Never try fixing your light clamp with one hand while cycling a drop off at a night race.

Still have a big thumb bump from that. Ouch

Tip #1 from my side - when wearing bibs, please remember to put the straps over your shoulders before going on a 60km training ride and not let them hang loose over your bum! (it is seriously tempting for the 2 riders behind you to each grab a strap, pull it tight and let looseWink)

#2 out of own experience:

Be careful when visiting the moon rockets (i.e toilets at races)

...cleats do not really love those things' floor surfaces so much, so please make sure of your footing when opening the door to get out. Hehe - otherwise you might just end up flat on your bum - in the open door - with a long queue of cyclists laughing and grinning at youWinkEmbarrassedEmbarrassed

MTB - Keep your weight back and control the back wheel braking- no skidding.

Pedal around corners as far as possible, it maintains traction so you are less likely to slip

One finger braking

and most important, if you fall try to avoid the sudden stop at the end of the fall - it normally hurts

Make sure your quick release is tightened before bunning hoping a railway line (road bike). The sudden stop often leads to concussion.

Be careful how you handle that punctured tube with the Stan's fluid still sloshing around in it....

Stan's marks everything (and don't come out!) - including my new riding jersey - which, needless to say, doesn't look so new anymore... Unhappy

Oh - and for those 'bad morning' people...

Never look to see what time it is, whilst standing in the kitchen in your kit, if your full, very hot coffee mug happens to be held in the same hand that your wristwatch is on... I woke the house... Embarrassed

When using spoons to change your tyre, avoid using those from the set her parents gave you.  However much you bend them back into shape, she will notice.
