I bought a balance bike for mine when she turned 2. She still loves riding her scooter, but she is slowly starting to experience the balance bike, it is currently a walking exercise with the bike, but I think once she is a bit taller it will become a riding exercise.

Great. i got her a big boy scooter. She absolutely loves it. Will get a balance bike next year. Ive looked at a few. Is it just me or are they overpriced? R1200 at City Cycles

that's cool. there are a couple of options, I went the cheaper route and bought one of those JD Bugs from game. It was the display one and the last one in stock so scored another R200 on it

Anatomic (wear direct) has the smallest sizes I've seen. They have an outlet in Northgate Island :-)
just checked their website now, 2 year old sizes are the smallest.

Came across this guy in Mowbray, riding on the Liesbeek River cycle lane - without a doubt, this is the COOLEST way to transport littlies! ICE COLD COOL! Damn, I feel like buying myself one of those cargo bikes and stuffing my 15 year old in the front there.

That's a 'bakfiets' or similar model. my dutch cousins have one and that's how they do their school run, shopping alles. - http://bakfiets.nl/eng/

They're not cheap, and take a bit of a while to get used to(ok 5 minutes round the block)

i know they've been looked at locally before, but i can only imagine the job creation they could make around the townships/recycling collecting guys etc.

Went away for the week last week, up the west coast/namakwaland on a flower recce.

Decided now was the time to get some sort of on bike seat, so picked up an old giant rear seat at the 2nd hand kids store down the road - didn't have the rack so was only R250. i have a giant rack so bonus, the foot straps were gone so just made some out of old tubes to keep the footsies out of wheel.

other problem was that it don't work with full sus bikes. so the hardtail just had to come along, it's the SS so rule #5 applies (HTFU).

also battle to find a proper helmet that fits - kid is 20 months now but all too big still. found this fluid at toys r us, need to sticker bomb the *** out of it to make it look a bit more street.

only pic i took, this is at hantam botanical gardens in niewoudtville.

#2 arrives next month, so reckon mommy is going to be very happy if i take #1 off her hands on rides.

one of the seats i looked at was this from sportsman's. just loooked way too dodge, but probably is ok if it's stocked and allowed to sell in a big retail place.

I bought one of these - the best if seen so far.

My girl is safe and strapped in at all times - I can talk to her while riding and it doesnt damage my frame!

Would recommend it to anyone! Especially at R500!
