Just got delivery of my Shimano 5600 bracket covers ( not available here)  and an Eroica cycling cap, for fun. Total cost delivered was about R365. The covers say Shimano and appear to be good quality and the correct fit for the levers I have.

I can confirm that the brake hoods are good quality and fitted the levers perfectly. They also survived my blunt force fitment procedure without tearing.

So it looks like you can add 20-25% to your Bill to get the total costs to your door... you have to know your prices as more often they will be same price here.

Yep. I think I'll only use it for stuff I cant find here easily or at all. Its good to know they deliver and so far the quality seems reasonable.

  3. If you're just riding jeep track and decent gravel roads, a HT is just fine. If its a bit rougher you will need to get used to it but a fat rear tyre (2.4 on up) is a good idea. I run a 26" enduro HT at Tokai sometimes and have also fitted an insert at the rear (Nukeproof). This combo makes a big difference to the felt impacts of rough terrain,

    Hi All

This is the first time I am creating a topic but am really curious on some opinions and thoughts.

I ride a 2022 Titan Cypher Team edition (Bike build up from the frame) the bike weighs around 12-12.3 ish kg's. Its got a 1x12 on with a SID Ult with Mavic wheels and alloy cranks. I like the feel of the bike and the way it rides. My dilema is as follows, From Monday to Friday I mainly cycle on tar roads and on the weekends ill do a long ride that includes gravel or it will be a full gravel ride.

Is it worth it selling the dual sus frame and getting a Carbon hardtail frame (a light one thats around 1kg), I believe then the build weight will be around 10kg.

Will it make a difference on tar if a bike is 2kg lighter ?

Will it make a difference on a trail, speed wise ? (Please note I dont do jumps or anything like that.)

At the moment on tar I avg a 30km on 22kmph but if I push myself I can avg 28kmph.

Also not looking at a roadbike since my weekend rides consist out of gravel and dirt roads, will possibly get a cheap road bike for road races in the fuuture.

    Any feedback will be appreciated.

You sound like a candidate for a decent gravel bike. Either that or just buy a cheap road bike for the weekly commute/tar rides.

  5. You just do it on the job. Take stuff apart and try put it back together. If you can't you ask someone who can and after breaking things and stripping threads you'll eventually learn what not to do. Just don't start on your Epic 8 S works. Same applies to cars. 😉

Yes he was quite a revelation wasn’t he. And now that he’s not racing anymore he’s super chilled and revelling in the Mr XCOBrasil persona.

his commentary plus Bart and Oil was very insightful. I did still miss Rob to provide zone 7 heart rate

I so want to like nerdy Ric, but he's just so irritating and his attempts to Warnerize his commentary is laughable. I'd be happy with Olli and Bart and a guest every now and then...

This service materialised pretty late. I suspect the UCI reacted to growing discontent by viewers (or the sponsors put pressure on them to extend the broadcast reach). That said I would not be surprised to see a smart TV app appear in the coming weeks/months.

Easy enough on Mac environment: open on browser and send it to Apple TV and watch in the lounge with popcorn on coffee table. Nothing unique about that; every other device has the same wireless and effortless capabilities. Support the feed (i.e. pay for it) and it will remain available to us in bottom of Africa.

Yes, I'm happy with the service even without an app BUT, look at how GCN + was canned. Just now Supersport make WBD an offer they can't refuse and SA gets geo blocked on the Staylive stream.

Low an behold, in ZA we were not skroewedraaired over again this time by being geo blocked or something other and we were able to watch the U23 XCO race in peace, the full live action on YouTube for absolutely free, for a change.

That's the same as last year. There is a streaming service for R115 per month for SA and many other countries so you can watch the elites and DH. It works fine but only on a computer. No smart TV app.

If you only know the thoughts I had.  I was seriously peeved. But probably partly because I was recently screwed on another purchase.

I think this thread and BH pitchfork crew lighting the torches is a bit like sending a juvenile to prison for a day. The possibility of the what can happen next is very clear. And sometimes its a necessary process to weigh up someone's choices and their consequences. I will rate seller accordingly, but I agree with Robbie's conclusion here - name and shame can sink a water treading company.

An admirably mature attitude on display. Well done!

  10. I second the - more modern geo and sizing vs older with fancy components - like what Bob said. The very modern slacker than 64deg enduro bikes have little place in SA terrain. Longer is also not always better from a trail riding point of view and bigger bikes don't corner was well or easily as slightly shorter bikes.

That said, you'd get used to anything and adapt to whatever you get within reason.

These things are like hens teeth..... There is a chap right here on Bikehub that often has things like this for sale.

He was the only guy in SA that I could get 5600 hoods (not even Coolheat had them).

He goes under the name of Richiespares. He is very quick to respond and posts them swiftly.

Eish, I'm looking for 5600 hoods right now. Ordered some knockoff on Temu, but who knows when and if they'll arrive...

  12. I drive through there regularly and wander around the area near the SAPS sometimes for work. No issues. I have commuted down min road Wynberg a couple of times to fetch my car and the biggest issues were the taxis. Outside rush hour I.e early on a Sunday morning is when the lowlifes come out I suspect...
