  1. the tree needs to be cut here before anything else, i think someone has tried to build on the downward path already however the thorn bush almost blinded me, didnt have the penknife with me or i would have cut the low lying branch out the way. i think Delta park along the river off the normal dog/ walkers path could do with a jump or 2, would make the ride back to fratellies allot more fun. if you are feeling really energetic the path leading down between olifants and tana rd that has the out of path root jump could do with a path cleanup and perhaps a few more on that side just to make the run down more fun. as i say if you are really bored and energetic
  2. get a belt system? haven't got a cooking clue where or how to find them but if you manage to let me know as i would love one on my SS vs a chain.
  3. Very cool, congrats, let us know how she rides.
  4. i demand a do over....... i didn't get an invite to play
  5. ""http://lp3.pinkbike.org/p1pb6168857/p1pb6168857.jpg Can we expect to see 29 and 26-inch wheels eventually disappear in Giant's consumer-priced bikes in the near future? · 26-inch for sure, but 29-inch will be dependent on market feedback. That said, if the market progresses the way we believe it will, 29-inch will be phased out in approximately two years....again, totally dependent on market feedback."" bwhahahaha- some people are going to be miff, i am already stuffed with 26" so going to enjoy riding my antique as long as i can
  6. thats awesome, anyone know if its still setup to perform like a web site or if it was for a specific day only?
  7. Bwhahahahaha post of the year on the hub. I would like to buy you a bells sir!!!
  8. Prefer mars myself, doesn't sound quite as girly. Well done on the rescue and good luck perhaps check with the local SPCA, might be it's a lost pup rather than a dump and someone is looking for her?
  9. Lol ok then, but surely you fitted the blank plate to the bottom of the shifter? That creates the correct space so the screws don't interfere?
  10. Cool stuff! So what was the issue? You say your embarrassed and it was something simple but that don't explain what the issue was or help the rest of us to not make the same mistake?
  11. Yes you can but don't think its the bottoming out you need to worry about, I would be more concerned about burping or snake bits of you are running tubes. Last weekend at avalanche I was running my mk's at about 1.5 and had awesome grip, much better than I expected to be honest! I stand to be corrected though so don't take my word as gospel by any means.
  12. Yes, 30cm on flats or clipless without my cleats on
  13. I couldn't agree more, have use a couple of the competition products and will never use anything other than Stan's again, works first time every time. Yes it costs more( sometimes) but its worth every cent. I love the stuff.
  14. Mountain kings are the best tire i have every used, going to be looking for a new set soon as mine are almost at the point of replacement. have been told to look at the hans damphs which i may do as well. mate of mine( actually the same mate that suggested i try the MK's) is running a set of WTB bronsons, he swears they are as good if not slightly better than the MK. at about half the price that may be my next option though.
  15. all valid points from the guys here my 2c is get the 203's if the will fit and arent going to cause issues on the fork frame etc... why because they look the frikken business, not other reason thats it, you will be able to stop on a dime etc but they look cool. when you are at the bike wash after a ride... they look cool. when you get a coffee during your ride... they look, cool, when the XC race rats with 10c pieces for rotors pass you or when you pass them, they look cool.. i think that's about it from my value adding opinion
  16. Deor is a perfectly good entry level groupset. best way i can describe it is, its the worst of the best if that makes sense. its really not a bad groupset, to put it into perspective the following may prove useful: its not the hard and fast rule but its a pretty good representative sample current mountain bike groupsets include: Cross country component mid to high end range * XTR (9 speed) - Top of the range for cross-country mountain bikes * Deore XT (9 speed) * SLX (9 speed) New in 2008, replaces Hone and LX * Deore (9 speed) Entry level cross-country mountain bikes Downhill/Freeride component stupidity range * Saint (9 speed) - Top of the range for downhill and freeride bikes, and many components are based on the XT groupset * Hone (9 speed) - discontinued in 2008, replaced with SLX Recreational mountain bikes component cheap makro/ game range * Alivio (8 speed) * Acera (8 speed) * Altus (8 speed) * Tourney (7 speed) - Includes several different levels of quality, and can be found on department-store bicycles
  17. fark please be my dad and fit hope breaks on my bike too
  18. the question is why? in the event of a puncture to get home etc yes, or if you are mid stage race and have a really big puncture you cant plug again yes but otherwise run tubeless and forget about the problems of tubes.
  19. MMMMMM AVALANCHE, now thats the best 2 days riding ever, did it last weekend as well, bombed down some of the best fast single track i have ever ridden, serious test of skill in some sections,
  20. next weekend is good, also at Mankele this weekend so no Gauteng riding for me
  21. oooohhh pick me pick me, ill do stupid *** with you
  22. while there is no excuse for poor breaks on an expensive bike it may be that the breaks are running metal pads and they need to bed in slightly before you get the full power from them. in terms of value for money i feel that shimano has the lead, considering the price point they touch what breaks are supposed to do and from the top end of spectrum i feel they are better than most( not all but most) of the competition. only solution i see for you i am afraid is let them bed and develop into proper breaks or get rid of them and fins a set of shimano's. would most highly recommend the Xt's but the slx are just as good as i have heard
  23. http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer Take a look for refence. Not the last word and a bike shop would be best at taking the correct measurements but may give you a refence point to ask questions around.
  24. ah crap there goes any ides of work, thanks for that... very cool site though, thanks for making and ruining my day
  25. i would love to but work too far from home to make it viable, also the shower thing is a problem, stinky all day not so much fun. i am however considering a scooter or something similar as the cost of fuel is killing me.
