  1. As mentioned above. BB52 is designed for a completely different crank system. Different BB is not really an upgrade, so if your BB needs replacing, as the bearings do go, replace it with another square taper and reuse the cranks. If your bike has loose bearings for the BB, try find a cartridge style square taper to replace it with. Either way you will need a couple special tools to remove the cranks and another for the BB
  2. Bezzera BZ99 Year later and finally got the time to get her running! Bought as a non runner in pieces! I'll eventually get the pile of parts that was once an Oscar and donor running too. Bezzera HX steams like a dragon compared to my Gaggia classic. Need to relearn my technique, milk gets hot before a good foams has built up, even with 2 of the steam holes plugged.
  3. Southern Suburbs side of the mountain is ok too do solo.
  4. Tokai is right there, otherwise the Constantia Greenbelts to the top of Southern Cross Drive, linking up to Constantia Nek into Kirstenbosch upper contour and across to Newlands Forest. Fairly well sign posted once you are on the trails. From there you can even carry on to Rhodes Memorial
  5. Is it possible on the messenger to have "Enter" add a new line below in text rather then it activating the "Send" button? I inevitably land up sending 3 different messages in the PM instead of one, every time I hit enter key.
  6. Looking for a Boost spacing, front disc hub, 32 hole,15mm TA....
  7. Just ordered one of these. Very interestes to see quality etc. Got a good selection of all the right sizes. I work on a lot of Reverbs and then do my own shocks and forks where I can. Only have a 10mm clamp, so this will let me work with C1 Reverbs 7.5mm or the 9 and 9.5mm on Fox Shocks
  8. Bike addict has CSixx Cinch 32T chainrings for R790, for RaceFace cranks. But yes the shimano crank should work as a straight fit

I'd avoid the aluminium ones with pressed fittings. https://share.temu.com/x0EZnhtDy9A I bought this one and the quality is really, really good. Solid, welded and no slop at all.

Get the bike shop to put a tool on it, quick and accuarate. Some brands don't straighten well and snap instead. But most bike shops should have a replacement available or will be able to source one. Take the old one along and they can match it.
  11. That's a serious lot of bike for the money! Otherwise look around for a Giant Trance second hand. Some good deals around and a great allrounder
  12. Hasn't had much use with my contact work schedule, but mostly used it as a driver so far, which is does an amazing job, both with large fasteners into timber and just making melamine boxes. As a wrench, experience is limited, though I couldn't help myself when removing the wheel nuts on my last car job. Will admit I used a breaker bar to crack the nuts and do final torque but did a quick job of popping the nuts off and on.
  13. Some good options there @RobertWhitehead if you want to go all in with something full suspension from the start or @Jensie is also a nice simple hardtail, with half decent brakes and good looking general condition if you want to try things out. Will hold the value and could always sell it for the same if you decide to go all in with the sport / hobby @RobertWhitehead I managed to get a good deal on a well specced Silverback which I did a nice rebuild upgrade on
  14. Just been through the search for a Small frame MTB for my wife recently. I'd suggest if looking at a Small frame, look at 27.5 over 29 inch wheel, make sure you test ride it first. We had a small frame 29 before and the wheel size was too large design of the bike, if you turned too tightly the front wheel would touch the tip of your toes! Just something to keep in mind. It wasn't serious, or a problem most of the the time, but did irritate my wife and affect confidence. (Nothing wrong with a 26 inch bike) Bonus things to look for: Air fork (smoother action and lighter weight) 10 Speed or more on the rear cassette (makes upgrading easier and cheaper long term if you want to go with 1 ring up front one day, Shimano make nice cheap 11-46T cassettes) (I actually considered the Giant that MORNE posted above. The Silverback also looks nice if you can stretch the budget, or get a discount, but do check the front wheel clearance on the 29 Silverback)
  15. If you can get the cSt rating of the oil rather then the wt, that is preferable. The wt rating tends to differ depending on the company, while cSt is a standard. Ping @droo for the correct alternate.
  16. Incoming! Might take a little while for my little one to grow into
  17. His bike is the Avalanche which has QR as can be seen in the photo and the new wheels with tires are through axle
  18. You can get a through axle to quick release conversion, but that still leaves the cassette compatibility. Otherwise put them up for trade with some that has some quick release wheels, and keep the rubber. Doubt it will be worth the money to build over the rims to 2 new wheels. At least R500 per wheel just in labour to build. Save the cash for a new bike down the line. Enjoy the Schwalbe tires
  19. Looking for old Rockshox Reverb droppers for spares. Internal, External in any condition. Running a budget friendly rebuild service locally, but occasionally have post come in that need more then just seals and bushings
  20. Brilliant, appreciated
  21. Anyone in CT, Southern Suburbs that can print one of these for me? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5135813
  22. Looking for a 180mm centre lock disc rotor. I'm in CT Last Muppet ran spacer washers on the wrong side of the caliper and wore a ridge down the middle of the breaking surface
  23. Balance bike recommendations... what should I look for, what should I avoid? Not many in the classifieds
  24. You cased a jump.... no warranty there! Warranty covers defects, not abuse. Depending on your cover you might be able to claim from insurance, look at your schedule, my Discovery coverage would definitely pay for the damage, less the R1000 excess, and most insurers have a clause that they won't pay if it was during a race. Chain break is school fees, lots of things that could have caused that.
