Could anyone fill me in on where Mvdp was though? I couldn’t spot him
Wasnt in the sprint, been feeling ill for the last day or so

Quick to blame without seeing the run in properly!!. Perhaps watch the Breakaway on GCN+ where there showed the slow motion of his gears jumping and of him sitting down, getting back up and looking down at his gears.
That being said, I think Philipsen would have still beat him, although it would have been a lot closer. Philipsen is on top form at the moment and all the other sprinters are going to struggle to beat him.

So, I will exhaust all possible leads on the 701 and settle for a 702 if all of them are dead ends. Thanks for all the information.
Maybe look at Fizik (has the velcro strap https://www.cyclelab.com/product/6001164-shoe-road-uni-fizik-tempo-overcurve-r5-wht-blk--f
Use to be someone in PE who brought the brand in, not sure if they still are.

Think they are still waiting on the Municipality. There was something in the Herald last month https://www.heraldlive.co.za/news/2023-05-19-nelson-mandela-bay-poised-to-renew-ironman-sponsorship/
Also there have been rumours that the date will be 14 April 2024, but nothing confirmed as yet.
You get 3 types of athlete
1. Either wing it or download a plan of the internet and follow it.
2. Self coached
3, Has a coach for not only putting an individualized plan to achieve a goal, but also for human interaction, accountability and specific needs let alone any one-to-one coaching tat AI cannot provide.
At present AI will likely be taken up by the Type 1 athlete. A Type 2 athlete may consider it and then look at the structure of the plan and adapt it further.
Type 3 will always stay with a coach unless circumstances change dramatically i.e financial/long term lay-off etc in which case they will likely take a break and return to a coach when needed.

I recorded 88.7 and 5 other athletes I coached recorded 88.6, 89.0, 88.0, 88.5 and 88.7. Discrepancies likely depending on where your 2nds were stationed and whether you were taking the shortest line. All recorded longer than official distance given.
Was a tough but great day out, up until 12kms to go where my right hamstring started tightening and the quads were on fire. Had to back off slightly, but happy to get a Bill Rowan with an 8:42hr time.
Yesterday after the run the body and legs were broken, fortunately today all recovered.
Well done to all who raced, faced their daemons and went through all the dark places to come out triumphant and finish!!

I seem to be getting less and less mileage from my shoes. I run with New balance 880.
As I have heelspurs, my heels are very sensitive to when shoes get softer on the heel. Now that new balance is freshfoaming all the shoes, I get maybe 400-500KM from a pair, vs. previously I could get about 30% more from them. at R3000 per pair, it is getting ridiculous.
I am thinking to try the Decathlon house brand shoes at more than half the price.
any experience on these shoes?
Can't comment on Decathlon shoes, but have seen these have just been released at a decent price point https://pivotandrun.co.za/products/quphoria-mens. I think there were a few reviews on the previous V1's
As others have said, it will not be worth the effort. On a tri-bike breaking is minimal. It is not like you are in a peloton and on the brakes all the time. I would also suspect that the front fork would have to be changed as the breaking loading is in a completely different place to that of the rim brakes.

8:45-8:50 hr. It's a long day and anything can happen on an ultra, especially if the nutrition goes wrong... but that is the goal and what the training is aiming for
Training on the spot for a sub 9 Comrades after a good sub 5 Two Oceans. 3 more weeks of 100km+ running then looking forward to tapering to race day. With distance only being 87.701km official this year, a good possibility if all goes well on the day.....

I am the same, it was not about how quickly or easy I can get the points but more of how hard it would be to get them them ill or injured. 900 is much easier to get in the what if scenario and having been ill, injured and had covid twice I have still managed to get the 900 target and currently sitting on 399 weeks streak !!
