    I could be wrong on this one (I wasn't looking that closely) but that was what the conversation seemed to indicate.

    I don't think that is the case anymore.A couple of us spotted some guys testing a pair of e-bikes at Tokai recently and had a chat with them. They mentioned that one of the bikes was seriously powerful and had enough oomph to pull a wheelie and throw the rider if too much throttle was applied.

    That's the trick isn't it, fixing the mistake and fixing it properly. If you do that you have a customer for life and not just a one off hit and run deal.

    As far as I know the stores are supposed to have a policy of asking for proof of purchase or ownership for bikes (may not be company wide but I know some do).

    There is nothing wrong with getting another opinion (or a few dozen) here before going ahead and taking it to be looked at.The owner has now armed himself with more knowledge if the bike shop are difficult about this.

    Trail map is here - http://tokaimtb.co.za/trails/ If you loop from Tokai around Silvermine and back you can probably make up a ride of around 50km with a lot more than 900m ascent.

    It's because he is eleven that he can, with minimal effort.Believe me I have an eleven year old here and I have given him the heaviest oldest bike I could find and he still bins me going up and down. The sod.

    Honestly some brakes are just noisy, as long as they stop you okay just leave it for now. They may quieten down a little when they bed in more.
