  1. Are smart capabilities important to you?

I helped a friend through this hassle a few months back.

We eventually settled on a Samsung because of the available apps.

Not sure if it is still the case, but, for example, HiSense did not have a Netflix app.

Well.... I'm not using any the moment  (have never used /watched a smart tv)

My Apple tv's plugged in but I haven't used NF or anything else yet..

But I'd like the facility there if I ever do want it.

I've been going what's been advised here, narrowing down what I'd like and I'm see what deals happen next Friday.

I'll be away , So my purchase will have to be online.

So far I'm looking at these two

    in no order of preference

  2. Samsung own Hisense. You will notice that Samsung no longer have series 3 and 4 TV's and that is because Hisense now make the lower series TV's. Samsung TV's now start at series 5

    good to know... thanks

But now... what do you get from a Samsung series 5 that a top of the range Hisense won't give you?

  3. After almost 13 years of  flawless service from my first ever 4 ton, 42" flat screen LG tv...

    I'm thinking of upgrading.

    But man... it's confusing!!

LED.... OLED...Curved, Straight... UHD... so many of words...

I guess, I'd be prepared to spend up to 20K, IF it it's justified.. but do I need to? I'd prefer letting go of 10 to mid teens worth of ZARs

Makro's my usual retailer of choice, mostly hassle free situations when there're product problems.

I'm no brand bitch, but I guess I feel better about buying a  Samsung and LG.

Are the HiSenses etc as good?

  4. I had my first real ride on an Ebike, a Levo, at VG yesterday...

I rode trails I'm pretty used to and know quite well..

    It was incredible!

NOTHING, was easy... everything was just FAST! FLIPPEN FAST!!

Naysayers... pffffft... I roll my eyes at you, tell me why these shouldn't be allowed?

If you don't like it.. don't ride it.

I took a bit of strain through the really technical sections where I'm used to being able to throw my Fattie around a bit more (being almost 10kgs lighter), but other than that it was hardly any different to riding my regular bike. (except for the turbo of course)

I rode what i'd usually ride in around 3 hours in under 2 and half with a HR equal to that of my last 3 rides on the same trails.

The concrete road at VG is never easy, it wasn't easy either yesterday, but I maxed my HR flying up.

  5. Another brilliant day out at FUN Gaalen...

perhaps not as picturesque as posts of late on here (julle mense ry maar in mooi plekke)

    But mooi nonetheless

  6. The River trail at FUN Gaalen...

Not enough can be said about how fah-lippen awesome this stretch of trail is!

It's such a pity that thanks to some riders who have been utter boxes  (and an unreasonable land owner/tenant) the last less than a km has been blocked and the trail can thusly not be completed and you have to double back...

HOWEVER... there's still SO much of the trail on both banks of the river, you still need to stretch your face super wide to fit the smile from riding it!

    post-6012-0-98407100-1507460010_thumb.jpg

Although an act of arson, destroyed most of the famous reed tunnels.. there're still some left.. the new ones are growing pretty quick too!

    I LOVE this place!!

  7. Yeah I thought that might have been an issue. I've been getting frustrated with ANT+ drops on my laptop, so I've been wanting to get a tablet to use instead. You can pick up an iPad Mini for under R2000, but it's a bit too small to be properly useful. And that's still a lot of money if it's only being used for Zwift (I don't use tablets in my day to day life at all). But I'm hoping that with Android coming along, I'd be able to use Chromecast and cast my cellphone to the TV, which would just be amazing.

I've got my setup in my "cave", no tv there at this point (disgusting I know, a Man Cave without a tv) So I'll have to make do with something else.

I guess I could try using an Apple TV and get a cheaper monitor, but then I'd still using my phone which I'm trying to avoid

PS:- agree on the iPad mini point, too small.

  8. The good news is that it appears Zwift will be launching an Android Beta in October, as well as more routes for Watopia. In the new year a totally new course will also be added.

Need. To. Resist. Buying. iPad. And. Be. Patient. Instead.

    This is great news!

I have an iPad. Just an old iPad. Need. To. Resist. Buying. Another. iPad!

Well, I think this is my issue... seems all stuff is pretty much redundant now.

I went onto the support page as suggested (don't know why I didn't just try that first #facepalm!)

All info pretty much points to my Macbook being too old to support running Zwift.

My iPads are all too old too, can;t even download the app.

I too must resist this buying urge now...

Or... find a second hand iPad Air

  9. Apologies if this' already been covered in here...

Got my trainer and I'm ready to Zwift.. but have only been able to use my iPhone so far as my Macbook keeps crashing by the time the app gets to this screen .. it starts stuttering ans then it reboots

    post-6012-0-48293700-1506424583_thumb.jpg

Using my phone isn't the worst, but the there's the obvious screen size that's not great and then I can't access my phone while running the app.

Any suggestions what I can to sort my Macbook out?

  10. Ok thanks for the feedback, I see Red Hub Cycling associated with the races utilising the trails now and wondered if they were running them or not.

I saw lots of Red Hub route markers up for an event they were having the next day.

But I don't know if they're involved with the trails or just using the venue

  11. So given your previous position on it; what changed your mind to go and who is running the trails now?

The new management invited me to give the trails a bash again after an "issue" arose when they used one of my images on IG without consulting me.. a bit of an argument ensued between myself and the lady dealing with the account. I was contacted by a very nice guy called Junior, who apologised for the way it was handled, asked when last I was there and upon hearing it was a while,  said I should come round some time and see what they're like now.

My previous position on the owner hasn't changed.

The staff I met that are in charge of the trails are nice guys.

  12. I was invited by the new trail management at Cradle Moon Lodge to give the trails in their current state a bash and share my experience with them...

I've had my fair share to say about all the goings on that happened when Heia Safari transitioned to Cradle Moon Lodge .. so no double standards here by me going..

Trails are pretty much as I remember them from about 2 years ago (I think that's the last time I was there)

Minor Changes to yellow, like the addition of these bridges for when the rains (hopefully soon) come

no matter where.. it's a real privilege to ride in this country and see scenes like this up close

    post-6012-0-66920400-1505213626_thumb.jpg

Overall, nice ride, red and yellow about 30km and just over 700m climbing..

But I'd have to be really desperate to be torn away from my beloved VG for a ride

  13. The awesomeness at FUN Gaalen just doesn't end!!

More magic discovered today thanks to Vic's advice..

(for those familiar with the trails) Gully has been extended and is almost all ST.. FAST!!! ST

It involves a bit of doubling back on yourself.. BUT, it is SO worth it.. ST for days!!

Concrete road is always a b!t*h.. but the rewards always make it worthwhile

(took the pic from the wrong side :cursing:  , angle doesn't show  what I wanted to, but you get an idea of the singletrack going down )

  14. FUN Gaalens!!!   Back at my fav stomping ground after a a couple weeks..

convinced some locals who we met on the trail to try Double D, the newest trail Erik built about 2 months ago.

flowy up and Gnarly down... the guys bought a few pieces of land  :whistling: .. but thoroughly enjoyed it.

After the recent winter veld fires the trails stick out like veins on Pawel Poljanski's legs at the TDF.

    post-6012-0-54590000-1503748850_thumb.jpg

The descent of Pofadder, which is what Double D joins onto, is tricky and the trail is very rocky but super fun.

You need your wits about you

at the end, even more treats and you get to finish off with the insanely fun wave runner.
