  1. My son has now started to do some MTB races/rides with me.he is in primary school and has done a few such as knysna/argus etc.His medal sort of grew onto his neck.he puts it on directly after the race and sometimes stays there for a few days even through the shower and he sleeps with it.His school has a cool thing as everyone who got a medal in any sport over the weekend then hands it over in the school hall. I have seen the power of a medal and personaly i am glad that he now prefers mtb medals to ben ten or one or other alien like four arms.
  2. either i am too weak or the mongoose too heavy so i end up pushing.
  3. do not let a few comments in bad taste make you lose sight of the big picture.if you want to sell an article and the value for money is good the article will sell.my shitbarometer always works and someone looking to buy an article will/should be able to to see the difference between sales hype and the real deal.if i am iterested in an article i will not let other comments deter me from buying if the comment does not add anything of value.good luck with your sale.
  4. ek bly ook elke jaar op buffelsbaai.naby genoeg aan knysna vir die race maar nie so beknop met al die mense nie.lekker bike shop op sedgefield naby die winkel wat ook bier verkoop.
  5. yes it was a good buy as you now have a bicycle.so go and do what you do on a bicycle and you tell us if it was a good buy after you have ridden the thing.what would the result be if i say bad bike or good bike.go and ride as you have already bought it.
  6. this same discussion was held last year at tdf with the schleck/contador/chain thing. a while ago all was the moer in for breintjies bart for attacking at a feeding point.it shows to me that there are still no clearcut rules as in governing body rules and the riders follow the "unwritten rules" the problem with unwritten rules are what are they only guidelines/rules to be followed at all costs/who oversees these rules/who makes enforces them etc. my view point is that it should be a race till you cross the finishline and then have beers.
  7. isn't raynard tissink sponsored by atlas security?maybe he also chased in doing a bit of speedwork before IM.i am so glad they caught these okes.
  8. i guess that the same guy that rides like a dick on a bike will drive like a dick when you put him behind a steering wheel.it is not the mode of transport but the person seemingly in control who is the problem.
  9. i am just glad i did not pay such a lot of money for a thing that broke that easily be it a design flaw or a rider flaw.if i believe lagoonlonie(and no reason not to)my bike goes through a lot more at any given time.i feel for you and hope you get sorted.unfortunately i am not as clever as some of my fellow hubbers and can only give moral support.
  10. the RAF will only be liable to pay if the accident arose or was caused by the negligent driving of a motorvehicle.i doubt whether the RAF will pay out.your possible claim will be against the owner of the land on which the danger was created and he will then in all probability add another defendant as being the person responsible for digging the hole and not taking the necessary care to safeguard it.your claim is not in contract but in delict.I doubt very much if you will eventually walk away from this one the winner taking into consideration the time/costs/possibility of successful action etc. My suggestion would be to claim from insurance(medical and bike) work on the MTB skills, heal well and go and ride your bike.
  11. jurisdiction of small claims court currently R 12 000.00.
  12. my personal favourite for instant gratification is kondensmelk op stukkie salami.wonder why i cannot go uphills?
  13. the nature reserve in langebaan.very little traffic with a 40km/h restriction if I am not mistaken.(that is for cars)quite a nice workout if you do loops in the reserve and have a beer / coffee at Geelbek in the reserve.
  14. no one should go through bollie like this.i hope your new frame is all that you wished for.If I was you I would fix the bike sell it ,even at a loss and get a bike that has better backup locally.
  15. the law is an ass.
  16. socks rock(s).
  17. cast/moonboot came off on friday and maybe it was not such a good idea to go and do 90 min on the mongoose on sunday afternoon in the SE.Well is was trying/hoping/praying to see whether i can maybe still make the grape escape early march , but sitting with ice packs and a swollen ankle now.I guess that is good bye grape escape then. my ticket is therefore up for grabs/for sale to any decent offers and can be substituted free of charge untill 18 feb according to the website. Let me hear from you and maybe i can use the money to buy new tyres for a race later in the year.
  18. now i see why i am not a roadie.the title says another happy client on a fondriest.roadies must be skinny okes as i only see some other cool stuff in the picture but no rider/client.therefore it seems i am too fat to be a roadie.
  19. i would like to take her for a spin in the majik forrest but will need some TT bars. even not being a roadie i can still appreciate beauty and this is nice.
  20. i like them with a 500g medium rare fillet and pepper sauce.my children think the noodles are cool and they both sort of grew up on the stuff without too many problems.
  21. wider shoes and look for a river crossing if on the mtb.
  22. my wife and my son share the same birthday 21 May so my life has ended long time ago on this day/and my bank balance.(at least that is how i feel at the end of each 21st May)
  23. weight shifting worked for me.try and find the happy medium between losing traction on the rear and keeping the front wheel on the track.a bigger gear also did the trick for me as granny did not give me enough momentum.pedal style is also NB.I think it is a combination of the above together with set up and practice that makes you more proficient.
  24. my mongoose stock standard currently 14.5 kg but that is fine as my weight was 106kg.after the silly season with plenty of riding my weight has come down to 99kg therefore it feels as if my bike only weighs 7.6 kg.one of these days my bike will weigh nothing.
  25. did this event last year.there was no reason(from temp wise)to use a wetsuit.I think that last year you might have died coming out of the water towards T2 if wetsuit was your choice.tough race and at Grabouw many/all mtb routes go up and up some more.
