  1. i take it we are talking about used items?shoes would still be sort of ok but definitely not helmet or bib or sweatband/halo/gutter/buff etc.
  2. if you cannot fix it with a hammer it must be an electrical problem
  3. ek hoop jy kry jou pomp.I once borrowed a fellow rider my pump(old hardly working) and got it back after the race.I then again borrowed a fellow rider a pump(more fancy one) during a race and never got it back.I now stick around until i have my pump before i continue on my ride back alt i will give you a bomb. Not cool to borrow and not give back.
  4. with my son who also became a member of tygerberg mtb club yesterday.anywhere for the whole weekend as the wife has gone to visit the mom in law.
  5. ok plan B is to have buy the most expensive bike and just keep enough money out to get a few friends over and have a bike wetting party with some beers.
  6. always good to hear stories like this amidst the doom and gloom
  7. depends on how much.shares are quite low at the moment so if you buy good shares and leave them for a few years you might be able to buy your bike from the dividends and if you have to pay in to sars you can always sell the shares on short notice.my last 2 bikes are curtesy of my friend Mr Rupert.
  8. yippeeeeeeeee i am one of the winners.this is only the second time in my life of 40plus years i have won a comp.i cannot even pick 1 number in the lotto never mind all the little bastards.my wife always says i should buy lotto and then she will pick all the other numbers which i have not picked.i one won a small case of coke in 1973 but me dad took it from me and said it will make my teeth go bad.funny enough it did nothing to his teeth when he put brandy in it.anyway i am very happy and looking forward to receiving my eyewear.
  9. wow not the hostility i was looking forward to read on my morning visit tot the forum, but then again nothing new.I ride my mtb because i do not have a road bike,I live and work withing 500m of majikforrest so within 2 min of leaving either my house or office i am on singletrack.I do not shave my legs because on my previous attempt it ended up looking like a botched suicide and the hair cover my true mtb scars pretty well.I do wear lycra(but not white/red/blue/green)ok only black , because on a few previous occasions my baggie shorts got stuck on my seat and i moered down.I ride slow because i am fat(tish)and cannot go uphill fast and i go down rapidly to get to my beer at home. That is why i ride my bike.As for "jy dink jy's cooler as ekke" i am cool with that because nevermind if you greet/stop for a puncture etc you are still a fellow cyclist and I like you more than a taxi.
  10. i drink more beer so that i know hydration is not the problem on a more serious note i also suffer from stiffness from time to time but i just go with it and regard it as par for the course on the mtb.luckily it normally only sets in after about 60 -70 km so i guess it is to be expected.core strength training made me more relaxed for longer periods on the bike.
  11. i ride xc at majik forrest/hillcrest/contemanskloof/meerendal.i use helmet and full finger gloves and found those to be adequate.as for dh courses i would think go the full monty(not as in the movie)as it is of no use when you have a serious wipeout and think to yourself i have the equpment at home.
  12. this is not the sort of first post one would like to make.will keep an eye out and hope you find your bike.went through same bollie a few years ago.my motto now is i only sell with ou ooms en diere op die handpalm.
  13. day 16 after 19 years of smoking ave pack a day(used to have marloboro / winston/camel)feeling much better from physical side but suffering like hell.after 2 weeks still 2 left in the packet of 10.
  14. i bought a maintanance book for dummies, upgraded to the BBBB of maintanance broke a few parts on my son's old bike, missed a few crappy rugby games on saturdays, but in the end doing own maitanance on my bikes. The only thing i do not do is stuff like my suspension, and truing of wheels.as for the rest i can only blame myself if bolts were not fastened or bad gear indexing etc.o and is rather fulfilling on a personal level as well to fix something yourself.I have been going to the same bike mechanic for all other stuff(to buy or suspension services) for the last 8 years) As for your problem i still think that it is the responsibility of the LBS who worked on the bike to ensure that the bike is ready for riding when you get it back.Having said that i would still recommend a quick check before leaving the shop just to see if everything is ok.
  15. have been running crossmarks/monorails.have bombed them no problems at all.
  16. salad with a pastrami sarmie works for me.throw in an apple as well.
  17. one unknown snake at hillcrest(WC) as you go over to contermanskloof and one in koeberg nature reserve.do not know what type as i am **** scared of snakes including the "tuinslang" when i have to wash the bike.i must be related to snakes as i also believe in flight rather than fight when it comes to snakes and all other animals who has got more or bigger teeth than i have.
  18. always great to hear good news between all the other bollie.thumbs up to all involved and no that does not include you muggers thieves that were caught.

  22. if you want to a rear derailer hanger
  23. it is called dasklippas.we sometimes stay in a little cottage as you go past the beaverlack turnoff on your way to the nature reserve.a good morning workout is to go from there down the pass to porterville, turn around and go up the dasklippas untill you get the beaverlac turnoff,go down to beaverlac and have a coke or whatever at their little cafe ,then up beaverlac and turn left when you reach the top of the beaverlac climb and the continue more or less 7 km to the cottage.you do tend to sleep lekker that nite.
  24. is it possible to id the oke on the footage?
  25. the best way to judge a person's future behavior is to look at his past behavior.the only thing that man learns from history is that man never learns from history.
