600+ kW from a 1.5L engine. That's totally mind blowing. But I think they had forced induction. Can't begin to imagine what a handful these things were, even with those enormous rear tyres.

"Young" Drivers Test...

"During a qualifying simulation run towards the end of the day, Alonso put in a lap of 1m36.333 seconds – which was faster than both Renault duo Esteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo produced in qualifying last weekend."

This Alonso kid definitely has a bright future in this sport!

Not sure how true it is, but I heard a lot of it goes towards his salary. Major injustice seeing Lance Stroll retain his seat knowing that his daddy loving him is the only reason he wasn't booted. Perez definitely didn't want the backward step of going into a Haas, plus it looks like Haas also wanted a Stroll like investor with Mazepin being signed. I just hope Red Bull are bold enough to employ outside their junior/internal program and sign Perez.

Perez when he started he brought tons of cash.

He will be no better than Albion is my prediction.

Difficult one to predict perhaps, with the RP car obviously being different to that of RB. This year's RB has been "twitchy" as both drivers put it, so it wasn't an easy car to drive. Whether Perez can tame it, time will tell, assuming he gets the contract in the 1st place.

Marko/Horner want their 2nd driver to be within at least 0.2 - 0.3 of Max, on which Albon failed in many cases. In fact, Albon even failed to make Q3 on some occasions. The bar for Perez to beat has not been set very high by Albon, nor Gasly before him.

I predict he'll be better than Albon, but whether he consistently meets the goal set by Marko/Horner, to hard to predict, especially since many F1 insiders/pundits claim that the car is developed for Max.

Perez is a solid solid driver. He will be better than Albon for sure and if it werent for his covid and horrible luck in general this year he could have troubled bottas or max for p3 in the standings. And in anycase.... his Carlos Slim backing will pay for the RB/Honda engine IP buyout haha

Would take a lot to be worse than Albon, not make Q2? Spend the whole race blaming other driver for racing?

"They race me sooo haaarrd...!"

As if the AT cars are supposed to yield and let him pass or something!

I still can't believe he said that when Gasly outmaneuvered him and then in the same race he takes Kvyat out! That race (Nurburgring I think) really made Albon look very very bad.

We will wait n see. But i suspect Max is going to expose him.  Ric ran from RB. MAx has demolished Kyvat, Gasly, Albon and i suspect he will perez too...this RB ride is a poisoned chalice.

Perez has not really dominated any of his teammates imho. Apart from hulkenberg his teammates have been relatively lack lustre.

However, predictions are cheap and if perez does well and is even closer to max i take my hat off.

Yeah, Perez brings tons of cash. Ppl tend to forget that.

Ric ran? Not wanting to be Max' lapdog while the whole team exclusively focus on max is hardly 'running' don't ya think

Horner used similar words iirc.

Max did out perform Ric comprehensively in 2018. Ric did have his fair share of reliability issues it must be said. Kyvat beat Ric one year too iirc.

Max destroys his team mates and they are superb drivers. He soundly whipped sainz too

Im not saying perez will beat max consistently. Just that he will push him alot harder than Albon is currently doing and that is what both max and RB need. Max is a generational talent, he will still beat him on most days, hell i’m convinced he’ll beat Ham in the same car just due to his ‘no quarter’ racing style. But on the days he struggles or doesn't beat him, there will be info and telemetry and data to learn from to make him even better. Thats what Ric did fir max’s career imo. Thats something he doesnt have now. It is him vs the whole of the mercedes winning machine. .

Then, Max would arguably not be the driver he is today if it weren't for his time next to Ric. He can be even more...he needs to be pushed harder though. He still lacks experience - the Turkish GP showed his flaws. And he has not been in a year long WDC fight and the accompanying pressure that goes with that yet. In a close points battle over a full year one will be absolutely ludicrous to expect max to have the upper hand over HAM mentally. He just doesn't have the experience yet. The raw talent - yes, but you need all the cards to beat a 7/8 times wdc.

If it turns out perez goes there, i’m sure there will be races that he (perez) will win due to circumstances or outright pace, just like Ric did. Thats something RB need if they wish to challenge merc for a championship - for when MAX brainfarts and/or crashes or whatever. The second car needs to be there to take the win, like Bottas... something albon has been incapable of up to now. Or even just be there so that merc cant use two cars against one in a strategy race. This is why i’d want Perez to go there. He is a safe pair of hands...a proven winner now and he has been a points machine his whole career. He’ll make a great wingman imo.

So Yuki Tsunoda has been confirmed for the 2nd AT seat. Only 2 seats left, with 1 of them all but confirmed to be Hamilton's. RBR to announce their 2nd driver on Friday...this season's source of excitement has come from the midfield battle and driver changes! Lol
