it's now "common knowledge " in the f1 forums on other sites that they used Bottas since Monza to test the limits of where they could push the PU if they turned up the wick...why he went through so many. I think He used 3 in Monza alone lol. Thats how they got the Brazil rocketship. I personally feel thats not in the spirit of the rule that says 3 engines per year...and the fact that Honda - who let us not forget - were the absolute joke of the f1 paddock a few years ago...made it through the year on 4 engines including the one thay HAD to replace due to the silverstone crash...epic from them. apparently the engine he was using on friday was running 30% over it's service life and was still going. Imo that should sound the alarm bells for the rest becasue that means there is lots of free performance to be had in that ICE if it is that reliable.

That is the real reason I feel nothing for Mercedes. It was such a joke Bottas himself could not even keep a straight face (Monza) about it. Think there should be much harsher punishment for engine replacement that is not due to crash. Half points for race or no points. Regulations state 6 engines for the year and Mercedes chucked in 12.

What a fantastic season/final race/final lap. I prefer all this drama and controversy over the boring seasons with one team one driver of years ago. I'm glad for Max and RBR but an LH win would have also been ok as he dominated most of the race. I'm so proud of Checo, my countryman, as he gave a clear demonstration of what he's capable of. Does anyone know why they RBR had to retire him? I can't find anything on the web.

as stated earlier...i'm 100% convinced they used him strategically by short fuelling him. But we'll never know. But he was an epic wingman this race. his defence and costing hamilton more than 10 seconds was epic. They asked him to retire the car due to "engine" trouble which he knew nothing about. thats why i thing he was marginal on fuel. They brought him in WHEN they did because they didnt want him to cause another yellow flag with max right on Ham according to Perez in the post race interviews.

Ah, ok, that makes sense. It's a pity he couldn't get on the podium, though.

SAME. I was literally crying...no jokes. this season was such a rollercoaster. my wife was laughing at me.

Everytime I wanted to say something to my wife I heard my voice cracking and I could sense the emotion wanting to escape. And then she spoke and I heard the same in her voice and felt somewhat relieved. I know what you mean. This year has been nothing but tense, and I couldn't ask for a better finish.

I agree with the suspicion of short fuelling Checo. Sad for him, but RBR had the better strategy. I was wondering where he suddenly got all that pace from. He has made some massive leaps in everyone's books and will be a force to be reckoned with next year. I do not believe MB are going to have it so easy from now on.

But I nearly cried with laughter when the penny dropped that Williams, a MB second team cost LH the title. When I figured that one out I was hosing myself.

On another note, I am super stoked that Ferrari ended the constructors championship in 3rd and that Sainz pipped Noris for 5th overall. I am tifosi all the way, and will forever support Scuderia Ferrari.

George Russells post race comments stank of GatKruip so 100% respect lost there.

Even if its A cake walk ( WHich I highly doubt ) they really must check themselves if they think Russel will just sit back and let hamilton run away with the title

This is what I suspect as well. George Russel will not let LH take all the glory, even more so now that he is no longer numero uno. LH is just another racer now chasing a crown, like the rest of the bunch.

I disagree…Russell’s contract will have some tightly worded clauses that will force him to bend the knee.

no driver ever wants to be on the receiving end of a breach of contract… career ending.

however, if he proves himself quicker than 44 in the first race or 2 it would be open season.

This is what I am making my assumption on. Toto replaced Bottas with Russel for his youth and talent. We all know how much Lewis hated that. My guess is because he knows Russel is a real threat to him. I am betting that Toto is playing the long game with George Russel, but now that Lewis has a chink in his armour, he's fair game in my estimation.

but on the flip side, Lewis will go and cry somewhere and then get his lawyers to draw a contract which prevents anyone in car number 2 from ever racing him ever again, because, you know, he's Lewis Hamilton, and he matters . . . apparently. Probably only in his, Toto's and Damon Hill's minds, but still . . .

firing him will do kuch more damage to Merc and Lewis then it will to him.

not like he'll struggle to find A drive

No team wants a loose cannon… and there are many guys just itching for an opportunity.

no guarantee Russel is faster either. If he is quick in the first couple of races and is ahead on points the team will make decisions in his favour…we wait n see but an interesting angle to 2022. I have been out to the merc factories in biggin hill ( merc was my client) and it’s mightily impressive. No team will want a driver that jeopardises this investment.

Toto also has very deep commitments throughout F1… if he blackballed Russel it’s game over

Who would want to drive for him then? What the heck would the point be if you joined the team knowing you will never be allowed to challenge the "favourite son" . . . and that if you do, Toto is going to make life difficult for you.

It's just becoming easier to hate Merc with this type of bullshittery going on. Honestly, the gall.

"This is not right, Michael" [said in a hysterical, slightly crazed Austrian accent]

Toto is an incredibly powerful man in F1. He has links all over the place. By far the more astute of the team principals In that regard.

Don't forget all the WOKE movements for what he is the poster boy...
