Alex Honnold made the first-ever free solo ascent of El Sendero Luminoso on January 15th, 2014 (after pre-climbing the route to check it out and clean it). El Sendero Luminosoa is situated on 1500-foot big wall in Monterrey, Mexico, rated 5.12d (South African 28, read : butt hard difficult). This is a raw, slo-mo clip from his climb of pitch 7, 5.12a (grade 25 in SA).

 

 

Makes my hands sweat watching this.

unless you have climbed a "big" rock face before I don't think you can appreciate the skill, balls and madness required to do this.

Yoh. People don't understand how heavy duty that stuff is. You can't call time out. You cant walk away and you can't make a mistake.
