DJR Posted June 4, 2014 Share Jaguar has recently announced that they will build 6 more E-Type lightweights. Those were originally designed and built for racing teams and privateer racers and in very small numbers, perhaps a hundred or 200? They have now discovered 6 original chassis with chassis numbers and all, that were never built up way back when, and they will complete those as the final builds of the original production run, 30 odd years on. There is no mention of price, but I can imagine some serious fighting to get stinking rich hands on one of those. There is also a company (British Heritage??) that will build you a new one today that is visually exactly like the original but with modern suspension, ABS, traction control, engine management the works. I recall it costing 350 000 Pounds a few years back and it didn't even come with an original Jag chassis number (think Pinarello ).
