I'm also not convinced that building something like that in the desert is at all possible to do sustainably and I think the claim that it will provide all its own energy and water needs, is a stretch. Provide all its own food? Surely not. Get rid of all its rubbish? I doubt it. Not on that scale, not in the desert. Not for that number of people. Not with what it will cost.
