'Dale Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 A bit of a bump to the thread: CAM MEYER TAKES OVERALL AT JAYCO' One of the most decisive moments of the whole race was when Meyer got in the 21-rider breakaway at the very start of stage 1, as the race hit the steep climb up Mount Macedon. Meyer reportedly averaged 370 watts (5.4W/kg) for more than 16 minutes to get in the break. Later in the stage, as he and Joe Cooper broke clear of the lead group, Meyer average 383W (5.6W/kg) for the final 13 minutes to the finish. His sprint to win the stage: 792W for 29 seconds. Lucky bugger I was told a while ago by a 'well known' coach that unless you're a professional you really don't need to ride more than 10hrs per week if you're training correctly (mixture of intervals, easy rides and endurance rides) - he did mention that if you're preparing for a serious endurance event (Epic etc.?) there would be an exception. Forgot what my daughters looked like for 3 weeks.22 hours, 19 hours, then 23 hour weeks in a row. Nope, i am not proud of it. Actually felt guilty as hell doing this during their school holidays. My Epic coach said i would thank him later.Lets pray.
