If I need to post a link on the first page, drop me a PM. WIll update as needed.

PLEASE NOTE
This tread is for LCHF ONLY

If you have a discussion on Ray Peat or High Carb start your own tread please.

What is the low carb, high fat diet?
As the name suggests, the diet suggests eating high fat and low carbohydrate and moderate protein foods.
The LCHF diet is different to such diets as the Atkins diet as there are no ‘stages’ to work through, so the diet can be followed indefinitely.

Post of davetapson on page one before the huge data loss...

This thread became more interesting and informative than any of us imagined.

For context, Prof Tim Noakes' original article.

To make it easy to find the resources mentioned in the thread, I will try and list them all here.

To find out what proportion of Carb / Protein / Fat you are eating:
www.myfitnesspal.com
Go to the 'MY HOME' tab, click on 'Goals', click on 'Change Goals', select 'Custom', click 'CONTINUE'.
The ratio of Carb/Protein/Fat can be set at the top of the list, below the Calories value.

The HTOne Fat Shake

============================================================================

This is HTOne's fat shake. At full whack, it is not for the faint hearted, but is an awesome way to

get a good chunk of your daily fat. It would be advisable to start off with half the recommended

amounts of fat and build up. Drinking a glass of water straight after drinking the fat shake can

help stop any queazy feelings. Alternatively the shake can be drunk in portions during the day

instead of one shot in the morning.

150 - 200ml full cream milk

50g butter (Kerrygold or similar grass-fed origin)

(Heat the above two in the micro for 1-2 min to soften the butter)

30 - 50ml Coconut Oil (this will be almost solid in winter so you may have to pop into the microwave for a few secs to get it into liquid form)

25 - 35ml Flaxseed Oil (this should always be kept in the fridge, flaxseed is a MCT oil with BP lowering properties)

1 teaspoon Nomu Skinny Hot Chocolate (not the regular variety as that contains sugar)

1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon salt (Pink Himalayan or similar)

2 tbsp cream / heavy cream either added to the mix or used as a topping.

Put all of the above into a mixer / food processor for about 1 minute and you are good to go. Pour into your favourite beer mug.

============================================================================

Peter Attia's Fat Shake

============================================================================

Not as scientifically tuned as HTOne's shake, but good for when you do not have the fancy

ingredients available:

240ml heavy whipping cream

240ml sugar-free almond milk (in SA, we may as well just use full fat milk and call it good enough)

25gm sugar-free hydrolyzed whey protein

2-3 strawberries (can be frozen)

Almost a sin to lose all that information. Many hundreds of hours of accumulated knowledge on lchf in one easy to read and access source.

I think we had the biggest amount of LCHF info available on any South African site, and I guess it got lots of traffic from Google too

I honestly feel a sense of loss, like someone/something has died.

Got to somehow try fire up some enthusiasm to start all over again. Dammit.
