Perhaps a bit of tactical nous from the Epic testing team. "Guys, lets pop this gym bunny backmarker with a 'random' sample, and we can send a message to the whole field that we are serious about this drugs thing".

My thoughts exactly.....he had a target on his back!

What an idiot. It's bad enough when podium contenders think they can get away with it, now the backmarkers are doing the same. It's pathetic.

Whoa there! He probably did not even know whatever he was using contained an illegal substance according to the UCI. How many of the Cape Epic entrants have any idea what they may use. Professional cyclists has somebody checking that for them. A mid-pack guy does not. Why the hell would the UCI want to test a cyclist that is nowhere in contention for a place on the podium.

I would imagine so.

I know someone who also tested positive riding for SA overseas and innocently took some supplements which by accident made this person test positive . Was told by Sylvia Dale not to do a thing- Next moment name is splashed all over the papers with no chance to prove innocence- Pathetic wankers (SAC)

But, but, then they would've targetted the celeb rugger players too, no?

No! no! That will not be random. that will be targeting them.... :whistling:

Sounds typical of our sport's admin.

Just spoke to a Mate of Barry, CSA have posted this "named" release without even notifying the athlete himself... He is dumbstruck. Surely the athlete must be notified first???

That does sound wrong - like the time I found out that jake white hadn't picked me for the world cup I read about it first in the sunday times.

[assumptions] This oke is a standard gym bunny who takes loads of supplements every day. Being tested at the epic would mean he must have known there was a good chance of coming up with a positive. [/assumptions]

for the record, bioplus is kosher.

This may have been posted at some stage already but if you are unsure whether what you are taking is legal or not, just type it in the search block in this link (or you could download the full list of prohibited meds from the same page):

Still only meds.

Will be a good tool if you can type in a supplement.
