Really sorry to Ask a dumb question, but what is an sti? I googled it and it came up with sexually transmitted infection. Sure it's not that

ROTFLMAO...   Its a shifter !

Technically, it stands for Shimano Total Integration shifter, i.e. brakes and gear controls are in one housing.

Campagnolo use the term ErgoPower instead of STI for the same "dual control"

I see i reached speeds over 60 to 70 11times.

With my top speed showing 80.6km /h.

My strava time is 3h03.

Thats minus the saddle repair.

3rd year for me, also 2 nd year on my DS with knoblies. I ride solo so no group or drifting etc. last year did 4:01 and this year little worse at 4:12.

Really bummed i didn't beat last year but kept strength for the last 15 km and when i got there didn't find it that difficult. Weird my time is slower but overall it felt easier.

Your time is actually the same relative to everybody else's .The whole field was about 10 minutes slower this year .I was 6min slower and felt like a good performance from my side .Climbs and wind do that to you

Actually the route as a whole is not that difficult.

The guys who can climb a bit will still get around the same times, from the 3 hour plus mark onwards, the guys on road bikes will have to just work on their climbing for next year.

The big secret to the new route "DON'T LOSE THE BUNCH" and the end result will be a fast time.

Very good time, even if you sucked wheel, I know you didn't but that's a respectable time

I can assure you there is no way you do that time from G by wheelsucking!

Certain I saw him pass us early on in the race (I started in F) -  I even wheelsucked for a few seconds behind him....

Well done morne GT

Agreed. Those of us that aren't losing out to age will "work out" this course and times will come down yearly.

My Fastest was 78k/ph, that's when I got on the brakes. Road surface and crazy people around me made me a bit nervous.

i know the numbers for this race are crazy, but was i the only one that found people swerving all over the place like manics both going up and down hills?

i understand people are not equally as fit which makes for "fun: times at the mid to back of the race but for me logic says that if i swerve across lanes or lines there is a distinct possibility of someone smashing into me, so i just dont do it. it seems that people as whole in this race just dont have their self preservation buttons turned on!!

any way was just an observation of the ride on sun, i had a blast despite intense cramping think the bachelors on Saturday and the bottle of Jager may have had something to do with that).

the route was a lot tougher than last year perhaps i am just not as fit but i think its a really good race and route.

well done to the organizers i dont envy you for what you need to do each year.

Only ONE small problem with a recovery ride with you. They are 1500 km long.

If you have an alternate suggestion, i would not mind seeing if i can make a plan to meet the legend somewhere.
