Actually the route as a whole is not that difficult.

The guys who can climb a bit will still get around the same times, from the 3 hour plus mark onwards, the guys on road bikes will have to just work on their climbing for next year.

The big secret to the new route "DON'T LOSE THE BUNCH" and the end result will be a fast time.

I recon this is going to be the big thing with the new route. Previously is was easy hanging on in the beginning. New route, not so much!

Fastest speed according to the Strava : 87,1km/h.

Really enjoyed the race! Managed a 2:58:35 for my first 947. Hopefully next year ill be strong enough for 2 laps!

My first and thoroughly enjoyed. I snapped collarbone 7 weeks ago so for me was just a fun ride, tried to hang with my group, lol.

Didn't feel safe going through those fast sections and road surface was sketchy. Rode my own pace and just enjoyed being back on bike.

Enjoyed so much, decided to do a second lap, enjoyed that even more. Helped a few people along the way, was nice to see a few trying hard and just needing that extra help. I saw quite a few doing second lap and I found most were pretty cool, but you will always get the odd tosser in every group.

Big up to the guy who pushed his wife/girlfriend for like 50km's. Legend.

What's your mate's name? How'd it go on the SS and which gear ratio did he use? I also rode SS. Great fun.

He rode his first bike, a baby blue Gary Fisher, think it's about an early 90's model, converted to a 32-16 ss. He's actually an ultra-mounty, have done the Trans-Baviaans, Trans Draak and Thuli amongst others. Finished in 4:41.

(Didn't sound like he had fun...)

Had a nice chat to Phil Liggett again on the Twitter ride - we finished the ride up Boundary road together in the downpour!

I'm always envious of the Pinarello he manages to blag at the expo for the ride.
