Too Cheap

R50.50?

looking at the bike, I remember a rider from last years 94. He had a single speed bike..... cycle kit was a golf shirt, PT broekie, rugby socks and vellies, and he was drinking more beer along the way than a German at a beer fest. It was amazing to see how he powered up any hill and still managed to finish in 4 hours.

Has anyone looked at the weather!?

Apparently it's going to be raining and a headwind all the way

Headwind? That can't happen, they took the N14 out, remember?

A year or two ago my eldest son did his first 94.7 MTB race. Near the end they were struggling up a hill ,thinking of themselves as tough newbie moutainbikers. Only to be passed by a guy on a BMX, sitting on his handlebars and pedaling the bike back to front.

I scheme they just move the start/finish venue once and for all to Nasrec. Purpose built expo centre, plenty parking and its not going anywhere. Unlike Riversands, which in a few years time will be all built up and they will need to find another place. Its all a headache for the organisers - additional costs doing it in a construction site year after year.

Nasrec has all the facilities you need.

Change the route, shake it up a bit. Can still do a city loop, a bit of highway, Linksfield ridge, Parktown, Mondeor etc..

I agree with you. I think it also is a cost thing. Century is a sponsor and I don't think they charge anything for the venue. I know they changed the venue from Kyalami due to a cost issue.

They might not charge venue hire in return for the exposure they get marketing the estate, but Race Office have to pay up for - marquees, toilets, generators, more marquees, more generators, refuse removal and clean up, site lighting, tons of security, fresh water, consessions - bars, food vendors etc. It all adds up plenty

Just a note - coming down Witkoppen we turn into New Market, past Northlands Deco and Business parks, then at the bottom turn left and then join Malibongwe.

This road is pretty stuffed with potholes and loose gravel all over the surface. There is one particular section where at least half the width of the road is ripped up..

We've never turned into New Market before. Are you sure?

If anyone hasn't seen the new route at the end of the race (from Malibongwe) I took my camera along this past weekend and filmed it for you.  I wanted to check out the road we'd be riding on.

I see the Choc riders are already scouting the route. 00:00-00:02
