Cycle Science in Broadacres Sells Fake Pinarello

Recommended Posts

Damage is done imo....there needs to be a pretty good explanation for them to be selling a fake...if there is any. This lbs is on one of my regular routes...now and again I will have cap at the europa so its going to be interesting to see what happens to the feet in the shop on a weekend after this.

I'll sponsor a never ending cappuccino if you go sit there now and play "The Hub live reporting from the scene of..."

True, what is he doing with a fake in his shop to start with...even a grey import(which this is not) is dodge.

There's a well-known shop represented on the hub that quite openly sells grey imports. :whistling:

fascinating.

putting the genuine/fake issue aside (i think we already have clarity on this),

still unclear to me if OP purchased the bike fully knowing its a grey (parallel) import? the frame didn't have a serial number after all. so the shop uses the line "oh thats coz its a grey import, but its 100% genuine, same factory etc."

lawd knows how many times i've been tempted by "grey" products to save a few bucks.

in this case not sure how CPA offers any protection with regards to fake grey vs genuine grey?

Yea true, have bought from said shop, but they do stand by their "grey" imports though...which is all I really want at the end of the day.

- It appears you don't have clarity on the genuine/fake issue coz you still question it

- It's FAKE, not remotely grey or parallel

- The LBS lied to him TWICE, initially on date of purchase and then again when they stated "he knew the bike was a grey import"

- I ride a 2013 20k Silverback Space 1.0, I didn't check the existence of a serial number when I bought it from my LBS, I doubt many people do.

I asked that question earlier…

Ja, and they do, as required by law, state that fact upfront.

Thank you, to those of you gave some good advice on how to get my money back and some words of encouragement. This has been a lugubrious experience to put it politely.

To those of you who thought I should have known better. Hindsight is always 20/20. However, I am not alone, I know of two other people who have been similarly ripped off. The fakes, if you have a look at the picture look a lot like the real thing to the unsuspecting or untrained eye. I trusted the bike shop this is an error of judgment, but I have been going there for over five years I even bought my son’s Bianci there. (note to self, check out Bianci)

To those of you who some how think I deserved to be ripped off. Perhaps you would like to borrow my fake frame, fake wheels and fake handlebars and practice some technical descending!

To the conspiracy theorists that think there is more to the story than simply being unwittingly sold a fake Pinarello by Cycle Science. I am sorry to disappoint you it is that simple. If it weren’t Cycle Science would have posted online and refuted Pinarello’s statement that the frame I purchased is fake. All I asked Cycle Science was to take back all the fake bike components they sold me anything genuine I would keep. They declined this offer. While I am disappointing you Neil Armstrong really did walk on the moon.

You walked in to what would seem to be a reputable LBS. Shhiiit you been going there for 5 years. No one can blame you for trusting them.

If you want to throw that fake Pina away, my dumpster is empty. Though a 54cm is the ideal size for my dumpster. ^_^

At least you can say you have the most expensive chinarello, no hubber can take that from you. JK

Good Luck, hope you take the LBS to the cleaners. The hub is definitely a good place to start.

I'm still trying to work out what is more embarrassing... a proper bike shop selling fake goods or the comments from certain hubbers.

The mind boggles

agreed...I mean kick an oke while he is down....BS

Hey Andrew, Can I buy the fake dogma frame? I'll give you R5k. PM me....

Tuesday toilet humour, and you're cheap too. Anyway, you didn't shout "dibs", so the offer is void.
