For times like this you put your trust in rigid steel.Those forks i wouldnt trust with more then a pavement drop and thats probably gonna shorten its lifespan...

How often do carbon fibre forks break on BMXes?

They stronger cause they smaller and bmx track riders usually bloody smooth with their lines too ... that drop he does is like a case unless you go large in to the corner.

Judging by the condition of the front wheel, I think he can be lucky that the fork snapped. It at least dispersed some of the energy. You are right the steel fork would have been fine, the rider no so much.

I was right behind him. I didn't actually know he attempted this till I saw his bike spinning away. Stopped me and the guys behind me from 'going for gold'. The guy you see in the first pic (red tshirt) landed that jump. He wasnt so lucky a couple minutes later on the next jump though. He got away with a concussion and a few scrapes but generally okay. It was quite an eventful day. Everybody who was there agrees though. It was one of the most awesome rides ever.

Edit: I have to add this because I just remembered. When discussing his rigid before the ride he said (and I quote) 'Real mountain bikers don't need suspension'. He was only joking though.

I might be different, but falling my moer af and breaking a fork doesn't constitute as "It was one of the most awesome rides ever."

Sorry to Hijack but if you are going to post in Afrikaans, please make sure you can spell.

gebeer = gebeur

simpelgyd = simpelgeit

proebleem = probleem

Rather type in English and use spell check
