But its all relative, if exchange is lower, the bike prices will both change.

Guys complain about the same stuff in the US, you buy a MTB for $10000 and you buy a KTM450 for less than $8000.

Oh, and you dont still need to buy pegs etc for the KTM...

The wonderful thing about cycling is that those bikes will lose 50% of its value every 2 years. If I wanted one of those bikes, I would just wait 4 years and get a big discount. I dont think motorbikes and sportscars devaluate so quickly.

Let's not even compare car or motor bike tyre prices vs mtb tyres

I changed brake pads on my car a few months back, cost me R240,00 and some of my time to fit the pads.

I changed brake pads on my mountain bike this week, cost me R265,00 per wheel and some of my tears while fitting the pads.

we are being ripped in the cycle industry.

Correction - we are allowing ourselves to be ripped off by the cycle industry.

The Trek Emonda works out at R37 850/kg

if say the McLaren Tarmac is of similar weight then it comes in at R47 300/kg

This is really a case of less is more.

btw I can remember when $1 = 75c (truw)

I recently bought a 2nd hand Pyga and a 2nd hand YZF450 in the same week - the Pyga cost me R6k more (the Pyga has also required more maintenance after 2 rides on each bike so there goes that argument!)

Forgot to mention that you get shoes and a helmet with the Tarmac.

Don't buy this if you cycle down in the Cape. Might just get bike jacked
