Has anyone found any decent ISP deals recently? ditching Helkom this month and am looking at Openweb unshaped to support the incoming Apple TV / Netflicks & torrent

Package I was looking over was a 300gig unshaped (100 peak and 200 after hours) on a 10mb line.

Have had a bit of a look about at the usual suspects but wondering if anyone has heard of any good deals.

I have two accounts I use 60GB normal+ 200GB(after hours) and a 60GB anytime.

The first one is with Web Africa and the 2nd Afrihost.

Uncapped didnt work for me and I got throttled too often which is why Im using capped.

My wife watches a fair amount of TV around 3-4 hours a night so it can easily go above 100GB a month on a 10mb line watching everything in 1080p.

Cant really say for torrents, those happen on my fibre connection at work :P

Let me know if you find a deal. Just a quick question, how do you change from Telkom adsl to say someone like Afrihost? Do they still use your existing Telkom line or what?

Our area = Greencom R799 25mb/s fibre line and uncapped unshaped data. Thats a win. I see Telkom losing market very quickly as this rolls out. None of the infrastructure belongs to Telkom either.

Now that is a good deal.

if you want speed you have to take  capped package, the Afrihost R7 a gig works and with the cell phone app you are in control.

I share DST with my neighbor, dual vi and 50 meter cable works but even at half price it is expensive.

I download from eztv.it piratebay and the rest, im thinking of cancelling and only renewing for TDF

Not necessarily. Afrihost business is completely unshaped and uncapped at all times. It's R797 for a 4Mb account and line rental included. As for the rest, look into Sonarr and SABNZBD and thank me later :)

The ADSL line is in two portions, voice rental and ADSL rental.

The ADSL portion can be unbundled and sold to an ISP at a discounted rate but then the ISP is responsible for billing on it.

All you do is contact the ISP you want to use and they will get it moved over to them.

After that Telkom will just bill you for voice use and the ISP will bill you the ADSL rental - your ADSL data account does not need to be with that same ISP.

For instance my ADSL line before I moved was was axxess but my data was with web africa and afrihost.

or you can keep your adsl through telkom and just get your data from someone else like afrihost
