Soon they'll know if it is an "extinct" species. It is thought that most of the Silver Trees on Table Mountain today are hybrids caused by mans disturbance. The hope is that somewhere in the dormant 100 year old seed bank of Tokai forest, there may still be seeds of the original pure Silver Tree that used to grow there before the first pines were planted.
