Oval chainrings

How did I miss this Thread?

To the oval Guru's , I've been on rotor Q rings(39/54) and rotor 3d Crank for a year if not more(Road bike), will not go back to round ever, It eliminated the biggest dead spot ever... mashing reduced a lot.

The magic question for me : How the heck do I find out if moving the chainring position forward / back will further improve efficiency and/or power ? Or do I really HAVE to:

1) turn it back , Do a test ride  and

2) turn it forward , do a test ride

Surely there is some or other holy grail easier method :whistling:

The only way I can see you turning it forwards or backwards would be a full 90 degree's , that would surely nullify the oval . Or am I incorrect ?

I think they look like this so have lots of options ... unlike many of the MTB ones that have just one 'correct' way?

I remember with the older Rotor rings they did give suggestions for TT vs road about where to start ....

Just bought a Kalbo 34t elliptical to replace my 30t normal.

Afkak, here I come. Should be a big enough change to determine whether oval is all it's cracked up to be.

Sjo, that a big jump...that oval better work as suggested or there might be some walking along side that beast of a bike ☺

This is my son's bike. 34 T oval.

Looks lekker. You seem to purchase a lot from overseas. Does it work out cheaper than local?

Yep, from the Aliexpress shop I showed above. I paid 30 USD for the item above, it is now at 20 USD, so R300. Took 6 weeks to arrive. Postage is included in the price.
