I follow Ben Parkes on YouTube. I can't remember which video it was but he mentions that you need to do downhill repeats... I have never thought about this until he mentioned it.

He makes some good videos. A really good runner he is. I hope he achieves his goal of around 2h20 in his next marathon. Probably Frankfurt as he stopped at half way in Berlin in about 1h09.

Did you see in one of his recent videos he hinted that he's looking to run Comrades next year?

I cannot wait!

I will be missing it on Saturday morning (if it happens on Saturday morning).

I am doing a silly cycling race up Hekpoort

See you there... not sure who's idea of fun it was to plonk Hekpoort so early in the race... could be very interesting

In fairness, I find it a lot easier running up a hill than cycling up it. My wife told me that twice at Delta Park when she's overtaken a cyclist up that long hill they've pulled over and pretended to look at their chain like there's something wrong with the bike.

Haha yes I have had that happen once or twice in Alberts Farm up the steep climb.

I don't know if I prefer Hekpoort at the start or end. It is very much like Polly Shorts on the up run.

My bum is not looking forward to the 106 km. Haven't been on my bike nearly enough this year. I am hoping my running fitness will help  :whistling:

I'm gonna save my legs best I can going up... long way to the finish there, and a climb like that can do some proper damage. I did enjoy the old days, kind of knowing you were basically home and dry after cresting it, but the legs weren't always to happy to hit a climb like that after 90kms

Gonna be fun, starting to enjoy my riding again

Andrew did you partake in Run the Burg again this year? I saw on FB that your store was there.

Sadly not this year... had too much on my plate, and I also would of died if I'd tried the extreme in my current running condition. Did have a colleague there and she did her first proper trail run which she loved. The wife and I are already targeting it for next year, still just working my way through my little back challenges - but seems there is some light out there

Does anyone else (in the best way possible...) NOT want him to break it (like this)?

I'd really like 'it' to be saved for a legit race with people and conditions and dogs and 'drinks guys'... I don't know

This is mote like an hour record than a running race......

Have a feeling if he can prove that it can be done under controlled conditions..... then there is a good chance it will be done in a race in the not too distant future.

The mindset of many will change....
