Garmin Connect vs Strava?

Use both and you do not have to use Strava Premium after the free period.  Everything is linked anyway

 

I upload to Garmin, syncs to Strava, Fittrack and Discovery.

 

Use GC for analysing Runs and Swim training, although Strava does give some good info on the runs and trending,

 

Use Strava for the cycling

This guy is more like my sadist, when the pyramids dont hurt enough I ask him to put ciggarettes out on me.

 

My biggest problem is the coach would need to come ride with me, otherwise I would just be soft. 

 

Thats why I like riding with mates, there is no way I would ease off, if one of them turns round and calls me soft or asks "Look,  Andy is dropping his chain"

This morning I was returning home from my morning ride, going full pace when I passed one of those commuters in blue overalls on a china shop special mtb.

 

I lifted one hand to greet as I passed then suddenly a high pitched voice shouted behind me "STRAAAVAAA!!!"

 

Made my day

My first impressions of the Garmin Connect mobile app are not very good.  I get an error on login.  My garmin account details are correct as I am able to login to Garmin Express on my pc and the website.

This is why you cannot access... it is down for MAINTENANCE!!!

Weird...is your version of the app up to date?

Use GaminConnect to load and create routes. 

Use GarminExpress to upload. 

 

Not the finest application, unlike the Garmin devices.

GC is for mtb, and Strava is for ROAD BIKE !!!

Hi guys - I've used Garmin Connect for a while and really like it. GC keeps trying to make me go to Strava which I have now done, but I really don't like it; it seems I now have to have yet another application on my phone and in my web browser to keep track of progress, etc, where I'd prefer to stick with the GC thing I know and love. So - what is the difference and, with a 30 day free trial of Strava Premium which came with my 810 (which I bought ages ago, but is still available) why would I/should I stick with Strava at 70 NZ dollars a year vs the free and much loved (by me) GC? Opinions please...

I use an iPhone but works on Android too! Won't use anything else again. It also has ANT+ and Bluetooth allowing you connect to your Garmin and your phone simultaneously.
