Discovery Health - Vitality & Team Vitality plus everything else you need to know

The opportunity for Discovery seems obvious (not sure if this was mentioned before). Have a Vitality Pro section where members are charged a monthly premium to participate. On this platform allow members to submit information regarding their own maximum HR (an accredited VO2 max / similar report) and to also use other measurements to track fitness, such as calories burnt during an activity or power output where members are able to measure it. Reward Vitality Pro members with better rewards (discount at an online cycling retailer, or a national sports retailer, expanded discounted race entries etc.) to make it more attractive for the more serious athlete to participate. The take-up on this type of offering in itself will reveal a lot to Vitality, i.e. what their more serious athletes consider to be important training information, and this can be used to expand their normal Vitality offering.

We already pay a monthly premium so why not just offer that anyway? If one has the means, or desire to accurately test Max HR & VO2 Max then it could easily be absorbed into the current systems and recognized. I would imagine most pros make use of personal coaches and labs anyway.

For the average weekend wobbler who's getting enough stats from home devices, that is fine.

A more realistic point allocation system is all that's needed IMO.

anyone know how to load a tcx file into Vitality.

I do a indoor session on TrainerRoad every morning and it produces a tcx file.

Otherwise, where is the manual upload, need to see if Strava can export a fit file. My TR uploads to Strava, not Garmin, otherwise this would not be a problem as Vitality is linked to Garmin profile.

Garmin Connect accepts a .tcx upload

Hi gerald.

My Garmin/Strava is already set up to sync, so if I manually uploaded the tcx file to garmin, then it will double end in Strava, but might have to do that, (and then delete 2nd copy from Strava) just so that connect.garmin can feed Vitality.

Create a seperate garmin account only for this purpose and dont link it to strava and only link to vitality?

Wonder what the going rate for a 90+min ride at 158bpm will start getting soon, in tcx format.

A local pro could sell two rides a day to those execs that have bought Apple Watch and gym booster and too lazy to work out.

Reckon it would be worth R40 a ride, he can sell 5 a week, nice boost to his income and will be cheaper for the exec than paying the full cost discovery would charge for missing goals.

Supply and demand.

Could add R2k to local pro salary.

Pro would load to training peaks, exec to garmin account. The exec would just provide the pro with garmin connect log in details.

Auditor, but close enough. I don't get enough time to ride to do this, but I know there are people trying to make it as pro's and there is demand for this and a monetary value, it's the free market.

Same as those uturn food vouchers, they were supposed to remove cash handed to beggars, but the beggars would trade these for cash to people who would use vouchers for the clothes Etc at Uturn.

It's not ideal but humans will be humans. It's similar to selective uploading etc

(Discovery have allowed this loop hole by not syncing strava and training peaks etc)
