Discovery Health - Vitality & Team Vitality plus everything else you need to know

Recommended Posts

I've been through this with some clients before. It's an idiosyncrasy of the SUUNTO software. The watch records steps, but Movescount - for some reason - doesn't keep the data properly, which means it doesn't sync with the Vitality platform.

Unfortunately it's a quirk, and as far as I know it doesn't have a workaround.

Thanks for the reply. Just seems crazy.

I have asked Disco, but the response may take up to 5 working days - and that is a reply within SLA.

Soooo... having activated the VA thing over the weekend, I am yet to actually go to gym. (Rest day at last!) But Discovery seems blissfully unaware of this. I cannot activate my Gym Booster and when I go to Gym Tracker page, it declines me, saying I'm not policy owner, policy has not been activated yet.

So... are there any hoops I must jump through or does it "activate" once I go for my first visit and an actual visit is pushed through to Vitality? Or must I wait for a couple more days - what gives?

Question on Activity Rewards.

From what I can see you don't earn rewards if you ride on Zwift although its linked to Garmin connect. It look as if the activity must be recorded by your Garmin device in order to get the points

Is this correct.

That is how I make sure that I am rewarded my activity points yes, make sure the Garmin records it as a session in parralel with your Zwift recording.

Both of these feed into my Today's Plan and Garmin Connect accounts, I just then go and delete whichever one I feel is redundant. I had 1 or 2 instances where one of the two had stopped recording for different reasons and thus still had another recording to fall back on for training load purposes.

Little bit of extra effort, but worth it to ensure that the VA rewards are met each week.

You can most likely export a .tcx or .gpx file from zwift or from strava linked to zwift etc, then you can upload that into garmin connect and claim vitality points, same goes for wattbikehub.

Will not work as the data records what device is used, irrespective of whether you download it and then upload it to a nother platform it will still have recording device as Zwift/Trainer.  Disco will not recognise it.  Have tried many times with cycleops trainer and software.

Only way to guarantee points is to record workout simultaneously with an accredited device like a garmin and upload that workout for the points.

For the guys that did the 947 what amount of points did you receive? I received 600 for cycling that distance, but it makes no reference to the event. I manually logged the event on Vitality but still no feedback.

I also got 600 points.

I think you only get 1500 if the event is longer than 100km.

I got 1500 points for Shova and Carnival City

also 600 points, which is for a cycle race 50-99.9km.  If you click on your point allocation on the app it will tell you.

Mine was automatically updated and did not need to manual log it

Ahhh I see. Just felt weird that you get 300 points for attending a light stroll at a parkrun, and a measly 600 for suffering up Jan Smuts. Anyhow, thought the points was somehow connected to the event itself as a way of encouraging participation in these events. And I only need 2000 odd points to reach gold, so I'm doing everything I can to get that in the next month...

I am giving up with the Garmin sync, It only syncs one out of every 6 or 7 activities and I then have to get them to manually import activities. Very frustrating.
