I'm trying to figure out vitality's device booster & sportsman cash back nonsense but the "benefit guide" references labels in the table which aren't described elsewhere and I'm making no progress.

Would someone please be so kind as to yes/no these following statements?

- To a single member, Discovery will pay at most R2000 lump sum of device booster, based off of the item's sale price (i.e. it needs to be at least R8000 to make up 25% that is the R2000)

- The first month cash back, assuming all requirements are met, is the  R2000 lump sum above
- The following months cash back will be R4000 scattered over 24 months until the device booster duration comes to an end. (does the device need to be minimum R10 000??)
- If I can buy the same device somewhere for R6000 where Sportsmans would've asked R8000, I effectively already saved the maximum amount I would "get back" from vitality incentives, excluding the monthly cash back portions of the remainder R4000.

I cannot actually find a page to activate said device booster and to check if there is an "activation fee" that would make the R2000 even less worthwhile/relevant.
https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/device-booster returns a 500 error, I can't find any link in the app, even after clicking every option available.
https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/expert-advice/article/discovery-vitality-device-booster says "open the app, select the Device Booster Benefit" but I've not found any such option anywhere.

I'm asking all of this because I want to give my current watch to a family member to encourage them to exercise, and get the fenix 5s+ or 735xt for shorter triathlons for myself (with future power meter possibilities!)

Anyone know when Discovery Vitality plans to update their software to be able to link with the Suunto app (not as per the current link with Suunto movescount) ? It is a schlep to have to sent screen captures in order to claim fitness points as the Suunto 5 does not sinc with Suunto Movescount.

Got a call from Discovery to inform me that "all" consent forms signed have been cancelled due to the fact that there was no documentation available at the time i signed the electronic signature pad thingy mabob on the hospital counter...and the fact they they cannot be held responsible for information they share once it has been shared with whoever uses it (just another clause in the T&C's)

Should we  just be signing all these things people put in front of us regardless if the inform is there or not...would it even make a difference if you ended up in court over some information...maybe if you got ill and tried to claim for something maybe...who knows...who cares.

I doubt anyone knows, even Discovery...

The number of open issues on their help page is growing much faster than the resolved issues:

My Suunto can sync with Movescount, but since I only bought it recently, and I am not going to register yet another account that might or might not stop working at some undefined point in time, I've given up for the time being.

Got my Discovery Bank invite and my new card - next I need to work out how to maximise all the benefits.

I can't remember how much I was paying for the credit card - but take that fee that I was paying anyway away from what I pay for the banking fee and I'm sure it all pays for itself if used properly (like Vitality).

Need to see how the new system works with savings account or just credit card account.

I usually use both my Suunto watch and the Samsung Health app while spinning. Last week, the suunto workout would reflect with 300 points, but then disappear with only the SHealth activity showing, after it synced overnight. Their Suunto intergration seems a challenge. I got an SMS stating that they will allocate points backdated to 10 July (or something like that), doubt you'll suddenly get 4 weeks of "pick a tile" though

I opened an account about two weeks ago and intend to move all my banking over there in the next month. The benefits for me (75% discount on healthy food, improved interest rates etc) outweigh the issues (mainly a lack of information on the website). So far I have been very happy. When i have had questions, they have been responsive; but it is early days.

The main issue I have is with the way that they hjave set up the points for Vitality rewards program. You get points when you spend money with the card thet comes with the account and need to get 20 to earn a play on the board. As far as I can tell I will never reach that based on my spending patterns, unless I start spending a lot more. As they say they want people to save money, it seems to me set up to do the opposite.

Thanks, I've considered joining but I can't see what requirements I have to meet in order to get the 75% saving on flights for example. If its impossible to reach this then it doesn't make sense for me but if its realistically achievable then I'd consider moving.

The lack of information is the problem, They have a typical Discovery bronze, silver, gold, diamond setup depending on your financial health. I got to gold straight away by completing a retirement questionnaire although  I still need to upload some documents to prove my retirement savings. I then went to diamond by transferring R100 000 into the savings account. Once I went to diamond, the interest rate in the savings account went from 7 to 7.5%. I presume that means that i also get the 75% flight savings, but on the app it tells me that my discount is 35% and that is the maximum on the sliding scale. I will enquire and report back waha they say!

If you don't achieve the 20 points in the week it rolls over, I'm just about to get my first one since inception. What I've started doing as doing all my slightly-over-R50 swipes with the Disco Card as R0-R49 is 0.5 point and R50-R500 is 1 point.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah for example on the savings %...they say you can get 1,5% better rate but don't say what the base rate is.

My base rate started at 6% for the transaction account and 7% for the savings account and went up 0.5% when I hit platinum. I was on gold as soon as i joined as they did an automatic search of my savings, home loan etc (not sure how that works), so don't know what it would have been if my financial health had been worse.

Thanks, do you know if it roles over indefinitely? Or does it re-set once a month or something like that? I suspect I would hit 20 points every 2-3 weeks.
