You need to keep up the performance if you want to do the 75K again.

Hehe, then I'm definitely an anomaly. Last time I completed a Dirtopia event was the Burger 40km distance in 2013 and I am still on the invitation list...

Don't think they are particularly strict about that invite, they just want to be reasonably sure you will be able to handle a mtb marathon. Remember that this is a mass participation event that attracts lots of people who aren't regular mtb'ers, just protecting the noobs against themselves...

If I was you I would do the 42km instead of the 50km. Reason being, the 50km is longer in distance and a bit more flat, but the 42km has more climb and lekker singeltrack. You would appreciate the 42km more than the 50km. This is just my thoughts, so feel free to ride any route you like. This is a awesome event and you will enjoy any route they have to offer.

Thanks!

I decided to go with the 42km.

Doing the 75 again, form tester for the Baviaans.

If they ever open up the Baviaans to solo riders I'm in.

Thanks R. did you receive an sms/email inviting you for the 75?

i saw something a couple of weeks ago, if you did their 100Miler event under 7 hours I think it was you can qualify for the 75km Burger Invitational.

75km should be based on current seeding but what happens is the 75 never really garners much interest and anybody who feels they're fit enough and pays the fee can do it... Sadly. Last year when I did the 60km we passed nearly 20 75km riders quite quickly.

Entry is in, lining up next to you this year

Sucks that this event is on the same day as the Jonkershoek Enduro!!!

agreed. its poor planning, especially so if you calling out on FB for maximum entries.

I DONT QUITE UNDERSTAND WHY AN ENDURO AND A MARATHON EVENT ON THE SAME DAY WOULD BE DEEMED AS POOR PLANNING?

Not stirring, just thinking Enduro = Short/Intense vs Marathon = Long/Moderate

Maybe some people can do more than one discipline?

The date for this event decided on a long time ago. WP Enduro should have chosen a different date e.g. 23 July when the only other event is the Spur schools league at Bloemendal.
