wepat Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Wow Insane HUGE respect never mind how tough the race is, SS Rigid no frills WoW
CogitoErgoSum Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 No way that it is humanly possible to finish the epic on an SS rigid. This guy has to be some specimen of HTFU
Rushdee Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 some background on Max and his 'Scelerat'. http://fullsus.co.za/conquering-the-big-five-riding-old-school-on-a-crazy-bike/

Hairy Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Deore Brakes, nice that he shows you do not have to overspec your bike to do big rides Captain Fastbastard Mayhem, Rushdee, DirtyDan and 2 others 5
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 That screw driver makes me feel uneasy. Mad respect though! Not a screwdriver. It's a plug-setter for the tyres. Sorta like an oversized open ended needle. http://www.bikerumor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/genuine-innovations-tubeless-tire-repair-kit-plug2.jpg J∆kk∆ls 1
HowardSteele Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Go max...is the hair colour matching the colour of the frame for the ride.
Guest notmyname Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Deore Brakes, nice that he shows you do not have to overspec your bike to do big ridesThis.
J∆kk∆ls Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Deore Brakes, nice that he shows you do not have to overspec your bike to do big ridesDeaore brakes have perfect stopping power, a bike mechanic at LBS complement my deore brakes even though they deal with premium rides all day! Still I would like to know what Max's rig set him back. That is a beautiful machine!
nonky Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Met Max on Rift Valley Odyssey in Kenya - lekker guy.
DirtyDan Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 That mokorotlo dangling from his saddle is my favourite piece!
The expat cyclist Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Just a question but how does this bike stay upright on it's own? Is it that awesome???
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Just a question but how does this bike stay upright on it's own? Is it that awesome???Slight push from behind, then pic taken as it rolls forward. That's my guess, given that Matt said there was a "little trick" and no photoshop and / or stick on the pedal.
CranksofGlory Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Sweet ride! 34 x 20 that's a big gear! Must have comfy shoes. Neill Du Toit 1
