I personally never look at weather forecasts till the afternoon or evening before, those okes often can't even get yesterday's weather correct!

Agreed. There are also numerous forecasts out there and there is hardly any consistency between them so I usually just keep googling till I find one that says what I want and then use it to motivate a positive attitude.

"limited Late Entries will be available (on a first come first serve basis) at the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge EXPO at the Ticketpro Dome. Late Entry Fee = R850."

The person that passed away two weeks ago had an ice-bracelet on his bike. It was fine for the team attending to him at the site of the incident, but they aren't the ones that have to contact the next of kin/ICE contact. That is handled by the JOC/VOC and race director, who aren't at the scene, so they rely on the single item that identifies a person - the RACE NUMBER - with all the details linked to this number.

In this sad case, it gets handed over to the SAPS - who also don't care about the bike but rather the personal details that aren't necessarily on an ICE bracelet.

I'd say the bracelet is cool to have when training, and it can speak for you, if you ever find yourself unable to speak (unconscious).

Thanks G for taking my ligt hearted comment and obliterating it with that.... I'll go sit in the corner then. Edited by Patchelicious

ha ha, wasn't directed at you.

Was just trying to emphasize the importance of NOT riding with someone else's race number.

Chaps

If I am staying at Monte, how far away is the start? I want to ride up to the start and avid all of the traffic. Possible?

Not only possible but advisable. I am considering parking there if we don't ride to the start from home.

I think it is time for organisers to just take the goody bag away in total.

Give it to people in need.

Was there a goody bag ?

I just got my race envelope (and three others) it took less than a minute from the time I walked up to the desk for me to leave with all four envelopes.  Slick process

I agree, even the magazine in side the bag, they should leave them an a table somewhere and let people take one if they want it, most info is online anyway.

Who really needs a goody bag? I coudn't give a toss. I got a free bottle from Telkom, shirt from Discovery and a bunch of promo flyers.

Registration was easy. Expo was all good. Some damn fine looking promo girls. Pheweee..

Got me a good deal on a workstand. Winner

The mag is a pretty much a copy paste from previous years. Hints and tips for newcomers. Do's and dont's. Route maps and all that

If you have done more than one its pretty much old hat.

But its there to cover themselves

Bring on Sunday.

We are still using little bottles of stuff we got from previous 94.7 and Argus rides when we go on trips :-)
