They trained for it so why not ride as hard as you can. My opinion.....

I still think the epic in solo format would be way more entertaining

I did it solos from day one last year. It is ***, and you tend to err on the side of caution. So I ended up riding a lot slower than I expected..

Also seen messages of epic riders, even though they finished day 1, the one girl messaged that she still got booked in for kidney failure and another guy was put in a induced coma due to organ failure. No matter what the epic remains one of the hardest races.

That's really hectic..sjoe

I think it could be fun ( as fun as the epic could be) if you're 5/6 with very similar abilities and mingle good....

Still like the idea of the partners. It brings an additional level of complexity to the race. Not only do you need to be honest and aware of your own strengths and limitations, but also that of your partner and then conclude the best approach for the sum of the parts to be greater than the individuals (if possible)

Be that the one pushing / riding in front / showing the line on single track / gunning for the water point breaks / etc

Forget about the back markers, there were some broken looking bodies in Group C this morning. People hanging into pockets up Rotary already.

10am and it was already 32 degrees.

Don't think there was a single rider who felt cheated by this morning's decision. And it wasn't a coast this morning either. Short, but still pretty darn tough.

Respect. Good luck for the next few days.

Been away all long weekend, don't really feel like switching on the laptop. Have found it impossible to find any sort of actual highlights online/YouTube/ supersport app.

Can't even find if today's highlights are on tonight. Would rather not spoil the results by going straight to the news, but too bad.

Didn't think it was possible to be so backward in 2017.

Edit: instead I've watched the amazing, finish to Milan San Remo, thanks YouTube

If there are incidences of organ failure? ! Overheating of the core, what can follow is organ failure

Thanks, was hoping I could find the 20/25 minute package they put out each night on supersport. Can't find today's on TV either. No schedule for RSA on the cape epic website either(Slovakia is there!).

I might be a bit tired, but I expect a bit better from this world class outfit.

Would be interesting to know if/how many times the "no needles" rule was broken in the heat. The best medical method is a post stage drip but "no needles" means no needles. Any participants see drips in the med bay??
