We finalised arrangements with Martins who are the undertakers.  Ramon has been a great help.

once we finished filling in the required documents, Herma asked if she could give them a set of clothes to put on his body (even though he's being cremated, its about honour). Ramon said she could do that with pleasure.  Herma asked Brynes son Luc to choose some clothes which he did.

Ramon had to record all of the items in the forms.  when he asked for the list, Luc said jeans, shoes, socks, belt and casual cycling shirt.  I took a picture to post here.  Luc tells me that it has some meaning among some of the cycling community.

Here is what he will be wearing....

Sjoe Anthony. Everytime I read a post from you I want to cry. This tragic incident have really touched me, I don't know how I will be able to go and  ride this weekend.

I have no words to describe my sympathy for you and especially his wife and kids.

you are all in our family's prayers. Strongs mate.

That brought a lump to my throat!

Me too!! Perfect shirt choice. I will think of him next time I am watching a Sufferfest video.

My thought and prayers with you and Family Anthony, thanks for coming here and sharing with us.

You and your family is part of this family, as your brother was.

Remember BDF well, also look familiar from the pic, sure we've met at Thaba (local riding spot for my wife and myself).

Been recently playing with roadie idea... but this again just made me think, not worth it with the cars, I'll keep my MTB only on  gravel.

I can not read this thread with out feeling utter sadness. But it has inspired me to go ride my favorite place which i haven't done for a while. Took a moment at the place I met Byrne and it made the whole tragedy seem surreal . Will forever ride past this place and fondly remember our chat that Friday afternoon.

Gone but not forgotten .

As like many others, I'm drawn back to this thread. I think everyone can feel a kinship in knowing that - 'it could have been me'. The ultimate loss to one family makes us all appreciate our own lot in life.

In looking for more, I had to do a search on BDF's posts. wow, a gentleman indeed.

his last post he is offering advice

then two jokes

then that pic from the waterberg

then about the 10th one - https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/164317-review-rocky-mountain-element/?p=3009207

There's a new bike on the way, a damn fine one too. He'll never get to ride it, but I hope whoever does fully appreciates it.

not sure if this has been reposted here, but...it can't be posted enough.

Remember the phase where people wore those things that said WWJD...?

I guess we need a What Would BDF Do equivalent - if you're riding, just think to yourself, "What would a decent guy like Bryne do?", if he wouldn't do it, then you don't do it... ;)

I obviously say the above tongue in cheek and hope nobody takes offense, it truly was meant with the greatest of respect and I really would like to see people honour that pledge he started.

You learn through time that there are only a few gents and ladies on this forum that are geniune and true to their integrity.

Yes, you CAN gather as much just from someone's writings. Bryne (BDF) was most definitely one of them.

I am still very saddened by all of this. So so unneccesary...

Anthony (and family) thank you for your ongoing updates and sharing! I hope that as a community the little bits we are each able to share of the time and interaction we had with Bryne allow you to recognise that he indeed made his mark upon a whole group of 'virtual family' here too and that your loss is certainly shared amongst this mixed bag of all ages and persuasions. You and Bryne will remain in our thoughts!

We should make this the Hub's constitution, before joining you need to agree to what Bryne's pledge was!

Anthony - sorry to get back to "official" stuff as well again, but remember to also claim for Bryne's bike if he had insurance on it. At such deeply emotional times one can easily forget these small things, which could help with costs etc. As also posted, seems like he's ordered the new Rocky Mountain. In case he paid for it in part/full, also deal with that. Sorry to be this factual.

This thread has brought tears to my eyes and I don't really get emotional about people I've never met. Reading his last posts made me feel close to him though.

Anyways: I pledge to cycle (and live) by Bryne's pledge.
