CX Bikes in SA

Hi,

 

I'm looking at what CX Bikes are currently available in SA.

 

Basic requirements is 105 type group set, hydrolic disks and maybe Carbon frame.

 

I have a Spez Crux in CPT, but they aren't bringing them in anymore.

 

Giant TCX looks good?

 

Wanting it as training bike for JHB, so not Stigmata budget

TCX is a very attractive bicycle, but you might be better off getting a frame and then putting your own bike together, as King_Crispy said.

Or look at bringing in an on-one or planet-x? Very reasonably priced titanium ones.

Trek has the Crockett 5 disc models available in store, retail is around R25k? 105 gruppo, disc - although cable operated could be upgraded...Alu frame.

 

I have ridden one and I can say its a very good value for money bike - for the kind of spec, the only thing I didn't like was the cable discs, BUT only viewing that from a maintenance point of view - being a mechanic I know how these things need to be fetteled every now and again.

 

The one I rode the brakes were well adjusted and worked well.

 

Other than that I cannot fault the bike...

I run Trp mechanical discs combined with Dura-ace levers, more than enough stopping power. With the amount of traction/grip available on the skinnier tires, you don't have to go hydraulic brakes.

Alu frame, carbon fork, sram cx 11 groupo, hydro brakes, and fitted 42c tyres.
