Must be getting warmer and people must be getting out more.... this has been discussed to death meany times and comes up at least once a year if not more often!!

Just ride your bike !!

Shaper, you seem rather cranky lately. Tapering? Sick? Think you need another race to focus on.  :whistling:

I don't greet. But I do give greetings back. However, I had a flat the other day in the Cradle, and the amount of help that was offered was amazing. I think 90% of people passing me stopped to ask if I was ok. It actually got quite annoying, but wouldn't have it any other way. To me, that speaks volumes. More so than any meaningless greetings. Don't read too much into it.

I greet everyone, even if they don't greet back. It's just good manners.

When I say everyone, I exclude the "elite" athletes with their tri-bars as they are a cut above everyone else and may only be greeted by someone in compression socks while wearing some other branded tri gear.

So, what happens if one mixes tri and cycling brands? Or is that against the golden rules? I don't wear compression socks though. That's just taking it a step too far...

I do not greet try athletes.

Why not? Because they don't wear socks?

If you really put that much importance on being recognized while you out, stick you your local Teasers

Not the end if someone riding with their head down, dodging potholes fails to greet you, surely?

I ALWAYS greet if I pass a slower rider  Don't always get a response either...

around here if you don't belong to the "Tri crowd" they do not judge you worthy and will ignore you, hence my reference to tri-related gear, which again is more about the fashion statement than getting any potential/claimed benefit.

btw I don't follow "rules" i ride my bike

if you want to discuss further, please wait for friday

He is starting to take TryAthlons too seriously, he is becoming one of them. Needs to go to a Van Buuren party again me thinks!

If people wanting to help annoys you, one must assume that you have TryBars on your bike too? ;)

Apologies. Sad to hear people feel like this. The tri-community here (on Bikehub and in Joburg) is pretty awesome and I have seen and heard of groups out cycling with different types of athletes. I came here as a triathlete looking for help for picking a bike. I was just being tongue in check about the "rules".  :whistling:

Just some food for thought. If people kept looking up old threads, no new content would be generated, and the forums would die slowly. Forums are already taking a beating from social media and other platforms. This is a forum; a place to engage in conversation. It's not only a library to retrieve information. It may be annoying, but it does encourage participation, and debate (which is even better).

Was annoying as I had to keep looking up from my repair work and say "thanks, I am fine." But the thought and offers were all well appreciated.

No, I am far too newbish to be able to ride on tribars. Maybe one day when I am big I can be a real triathlete...

Is TryCycling race season... so maybe getting cranky about the seriousness of racing ;)

Helping and wanting to help is not the issue... or for that matter the topic.... stay on topic.... it is about moaning about not getting enough greetings..... you must TryHarder.... maybe your new bike wishlist should have TryBars :)

I find most people greet me or wave and are friendly, however that could be because they now feel better about themselves after seeing my slow meandering along the trails...

aren't they attracted by electricity... So all is well. Unless of course in the water, you are static?

Not if he wears one of these...
