Hmmm, "Day Zero" has now been pushed back to June 4. . .  ( I wish the Hub had a tin foil hat emoji)

Probably one of 3 scenarious playing out here, or a combination of them:

1. People actually finally reacted to the drought message and started using less water. Remember the calcs are made using current consumption rates vs the capacity remaining in the dams assuming a certain safe threshold value to ensure critical services can be maintained.

2. The rainfall over the weekend bumped up the water currently in storage, which when used in conjunction with short term boreholes are supplying some much needed water to the system.

3. The people in control don't really know what they are doing and their calculations of what is going on is highly inaccurate and fluctuates daily.

Also saw that. Wonder which politician is going to claim this one.

Along with the article I saw was a tweet from Maimane saying thank you, so there's that question answered

i think we've established that Cycle tour and water use are like guns and butter.  no need to talk about it here!

Does anyone have any info on riding the Argus twice? Had two entries last year to do that and haven't heard anything about it as of yet.

If the politicians and city burocrats were as half good at sucking water out of their thumbs, we wouldn't even have had any talk of Day Zero

There is always the option of sorting your seeding out at the expo on the Friday and Saturday. When do you get in to Cape Town?

Thanks for the tip, but I managed to get some attention after about ten emails and four calls to the race office :) Got my 'racing age group' start time and hope to do a good race!

Will fill my bidons in Norway before flying to SA, wash myself with wet-wipes, and primarily drink beer while visiting! :D

 I have been a wine drinker all my life, but recently I have started to enjoy the odd local craft beer with my 19 year old son. I discovered that we have many really fantastic little breweries in Cape Town. So, I think you might be able to pull that off without ever even having to drink the mass market stuff!

seeding!

ok i don't really do that many races and with 2017 being canned it didn't help. BUT how the hell does my 68yr old mom with her 5:19 2016 race get in the same group as me with my 4:09 2016 time?!

luckily I swung some mtb results and got moved up 35 minutes. Not sure I could have handled dicing my mom from the get go, christmas talk would have been awkws.

True, it's probably better for her to catch you half way up chappies where you can claim you had a mechanical. Good thinking
