intern Posted November 9, 2017 Share It’s a paradox of the English I have found. In some settings they are jovial an approachable aN gregarious, in others aloof aN restrained. I find it very weirdIt's called context. When people are on the way to work, they are focused on what's ahead of them, and socialising isn't it. Different story when on the way to the pub. This is why it is hard doing business across time zones - one lot just had breakfast, the other lot on the second beer of the evening.
Thor Buttox Posted November 10, 2017 Share This morning I went for a quick spin out on the road. Not one greeting. I was so upset I cried over my Nutrigrains. I then bumped my plate and spilt milk. And cried over that, too.
Letum911 Posted November 10, 2017 Share R50 says the non greeter was riding a Spaz!!! Anyhow, this is an issue that I have had, and cried over, many times before. I have made peace with the fact that some people might either not be concentrating, might be busy dying, or might just be a doooooooooosh!!! (you have to say "Dooosh" in the Lucifer way). In the end, do not let this put you off young padawan, carry on with the way of the light. Greet everyone, and only judge the one's in matching gear and bike
Kranswurm Posted November 10, 2017 Share When I cycled past you today on the Tygerberg MTB trails, I said HI. Not a word, or even a grunt from you. I said HI again. Nothing. Then, while riding a few meters in front of you my chain broke. You did not offer to help, phone someone, or even looked my way. Nothing. Just cycled past. You are a chop...Do me a favour.....don't sit next to me on the plane.... Serves you right for saying hello...twice
eccc whippet Posted November 10, 2017 Share this is the problem...same with the road rage...a good chance his day carried on without even realising "you" had an issue with him...clearly your day was screwed up worrying about him not greeting you...let it go...smile and greet the next person if that is what makes "you" happy. kosmonooit Posted November 10, 2017 Share It's tjop, not chop. Chop wood, lamb chop but someone who mifs you is a tjop.
Kalahari Vegmot Posted November 10, 2017 Share Guys, if we keep on replying to these topics, people will keep on posting them. He obviously wants attention-not the right kind but attention nonetheless. Let's just leave it alone.
Bonker Posted November 10, 2017 Share You did your part. You greeted him. That should be enough for you. Expecting a greeting back is selfish because it means you greeted him to feel good about yourself. As for the chain-break, he might not have time to help, he may have to get to work, go feed the kids, or he just doesn't want to and that is also ok. Jase619 Posted November 10, 2017 Share While we are at it, why don't people riding MTBs greet roadies when they are riding on the road? A polite acknowledgement of you using our roads is all we want. . .

IceCreamMan Posted November 10, 2017 Share Thee is a difference not greeting someone an not assisting a fellow human being even if just to ask if he has a mobile. Let’s not get so wrapped in ourselves that we lose our humanity.
Furbz Posted November 10, 2017 Share Are we all just going to overlook the fact OP's chain was allowed to get to a point where it broke?
