Okes came rolling in towards the finish line. Did the usual high five/holding hands for a sexy pic.

Ended badly

That has got to be the worst possible way to end your epic. Imagine the braais afterwards:

"Hey man, didn't you do the epic this year?"

"No, I celebrated prematurely while trying to get a good pic and dislocated my shoulder."

is there a vid of the crash at all .... a quick youtube search revealed nothing

Approached the finish line and their celebration went wrong. Locked handlebars and down they went, out of the race

I'd rather die there on the spot than deal with the embarrassment.

I saw it on the live feed on Youtube as it happened, so it should still be in that video. Just check from after the first finishers, didn't happen too long after that. You could probably pinpoint the time in the video by checking the results.

Footage wasn't great, fixed camera behind the finish line so you could only see it happening in the background

Aaah man, I missed this. Anyone have more details please?

Another pair did that just before the line on the last day.

One of the Last Lions, I think.

What a terrible way to finish the Epic!

Some toppie tried to Wheely over the finish of The Munga last years and crashed over the finish line and ended up lying at the feet of the Orginizers after 1000ks

The day after the 2019 Absa Cape Epic wrapped up on the polo fields of Val de Vie Estate the Early Bird entries went on sale for the 2020 Absa Cape Epic. Once again they sold out virtually instantaneously – within the time it took 100 would be riders to input their essential information, or roughly five seconds – for the event which is scheduled for the 15th to the 22nd of March next year.

Which makes the whole thing even worse as they are professional cyclists. I would love to hear their excuse to their team manager and sponsors.

First excuse started right after they finished and a crew member took the bike
