Practical jokes

No Hare

Recommended Posts

Please think twice before playing that practical joke on a mate.

Nou die dag someone rerouted my chain and as a afterthought loosened the bolts on my panniers. Moerse lekker joke!

I fell.

The result:

Compressed vertebrae C3-5

Torn rotor cuff

Cracked ribs

I was discharged yesterday after having the neck fusion and the second operation is still to come. My emotions are like a roller coaster ride for it has been said clearly: no cycling, no diving, no driving, no boating and no kayaking for the rest of the year.

I am unable to generate extra income for the rest of the year and will have to live off my savings and  a basic static income. Add to that the already R 29000-00 I have to pay in that my medical aid doesn't cover and everyone will see why I am not very happy.

So please, don't be a ****, los die ander mense se fietse uit!

'n grap is 'n grap, maar jy maak nie 'n sambreel in 'n man se hol oop nie!!

Any joke that has a risk of costing you money is not a joke at all.

My roommates used to stuff my cricket gloves with toilet paper so it takes me a good while to sort when I'm walking out to bat. They also stuffed all my undies in the freezer the night before.

Throwing your bat onto the braai fire is when people get moer'ed

Not much of a friend by the sounds of it. I would sue. Not gonna get you back on the bike sooner or take away the pain of a compressed vetabrae, but it may get you some expenses back.

Good luck, and heal up soon.

Unluckily I don't have any imperative evidence who it can be...

In the meantime I can play a lekker game of sock porn with all the medical socks I've been given

venting a bit makes me feel as if all the troubles are more tolerable: thanks to all.

Except the dwis and his mate that did this!

What exactly happened?  I'm not understanding how a rerouted chain (assuming it still rode?) and loose panniers caused this?  Did the panniers fall into the wheel or something?

I'm all for practical jokes!  Love them to bits and have quite a few tricks up my sleeve.  I, however, stop to think about the consequences and do not act upon any impulse if someone could possibly get hurt or incur any costs...  Everybody loves a good joke, but damn!  At some point things get out of hand and then it's not cool!

I hope you heal up soon and that the prankster gets a gatkramp!

Sorry to hear No Hare. Trust you will heal up quickly and without lasting problems.

I think what happened to you is not a practical joke at all. You don't need friends who put you in danger. You need friends who protect you from danger, or stand with you in the face of danger.
