That stat I posted about the line of chickens circling the world 6 times for Super Bowl Sunday, waiting to be killed has been weighing on me. So I made the decision today to try and give up cow, bird and varkie.

I like steak, a lot, so it is going to be tough, but I think my conscience has started outweighing my taste buds.

Just wait till you are next at a braai and the "But isn't chicken a vegetable?" jokes come thick and fast....!

But good for you. Sadly chickens are probably one of the most exploited animals out there....

Fish have feelings too...

While I realize that, my personal concern for their feelings does not outweigh my desire to stop eating animal similar my dachies. Right now, I just picture fish wearing short Falke socks.

I might need to have an egg and fish every now and again to help me stick to this diet. I fear if I give too much up in go, I might fail and relapse too easily.

Who knows, one day I might care about fish.

Honestly its not a hard thing to do. There are also lots of benefits to it so I cant imagine why anyone would be against it.

Mate, it is hard. Let’s not beat around the bos! There are lots of benefits to stop smoking, to stop drinking etc....

I’m fortunate, being in UK and have some “means”, so I went out and bought about 15 different types of “alternative” meats to gets. They taste like ***. All of them.

As an animal, I want and like meat. Don’t discount the challenge to give up meat.

The hardest part is when travelling/socialising.

At home, its pretty easy, but the moment the environment changes it gets a little tricky. Not impossible, but you have to pay attention and be diligent.

Yeah fair enough, Im sure its different for everyone.

For me it was a case of my wife experimenting with all veg meals. They were so good that we just started having them more often and now we dont eat meat anymore.

Honestly I dont like the meat substitutes, they never taste anything like the real thing and the texture is just wrong.

I saw a few people that are fully vegan have mentioned earlier in this thread that you have to put a little more effort into flavours when cooking and know your spices to get the most out of it.

She just sounds like a real pain..also had issues with children playing.

Yeah its super unreasonable to expect your neighbors to stop braaing because you dont like the smell of it.

I can understand the basketball thing though, that could drive anyone insane.
