Far more likely that the restraint has not been load tested since the AFB opened 33 years ago. A few years ago the entire base ran on generators for over a year,  as the switch gear around the base was some fancy American stuff which needed the oil levels checked annually. One switch failed afer 25years of never being checked and it started a chain reaction

Sadly I agree thats much more likely.

I wont ask how much those gennies cost to operate over a year or more

They should have just given the EFF a stake in it, that would have made them happy, like they were happy with the VBS gazillions............untill it crashed like SAA will if they were involved

We are pretty surprised that they sold 51% but we hoping it is a sign of good things to come. Most of the big bosses of this consortium have all run very successful aviation companies. Global, Lift, Lanseria.

Lets see how this will affect SAAT and the other subsidiaries.

        THIS

With those “bosses” I think blood will flow, let’s hope it’s the right blood and not the good employees blood

I really hope that this is the light at the end of the tunnel you have been waiting for LWB

Mid East to Miami at .85 for Long Range Cruise. 14.5 hours flight time. She is quite the machine. The pop up window menus are great. This one showing Equal Time Points. Very easy to use and constantly updated as per the current winds. The machine is very quiet in the cruise compared to my previous Global. Straight to 430 at a 34 degree ( cool night) takeoff with 49800 lbs gas. Max is 51850, was disappointed to not get a bit more but clearly the temperature played a part. Flows are as per Global XRS. Down to 2600lbs per hour at 470 later in the cruise.

Our little apron was pretty busy the last week.

School kids being trained how to ride their bicycles, they have marked out a little course on the unused piece of apron (this is what happens when the community own the airport 😁) and are supervised by the local police.

nice

I remember as a kid in primary school we would sometimes go to some place that had a series of roads that we could ride on complete with traffic lights, stop signs etc.

Does anyone else remember that ? I cant remember what the place was called.

Yip I remember that place. In fact it came up in a thread some time back. I remember being told I could ride any more because I kept riding too fast. I kept saying everyone else is slow. Can't remember the name though.
