What!! No Pistons converted into ash trays...tut tut

I watched a documentary on the  long-range RAF bombing raid on the Port Stanley runway at the start of the Falklands war by a single obsolete Vulcan bomber.

The missing component needed to recommission the air-to-air refuelling system was found full of stompies on a crew room, having been used as an ashtray for years....

ps:

If you haven't seen it, take a look below:

F16 with conformal fuel tanks - IAF (Israel) has a few. Fugly in terms ot the lines but apparently does not adversely effect the aerodynamics  or drag.

Those conformal fuel tanks are added to increase range for the IAF, for when they decide to enter deep into hostile territory to go bomb nuclear reactors... :nuke:

[edit] - I also recall reading somewhere that they added electronic jamming equipment to these pods to create a blackout of any and all signal emissions wherever they fly.

Who is in it? Lets hope it's as good as the first one. I have lost count the amount of times I have watched that movie.

Likewise. The start is amazing scene set-up, with the moody shots of the flight deck, with steam from the catapult shots to build up the atmosphere.

There used to be a pub in San Diego (where the true Top Gun base used to be) that was frequented by the real top gun pilots, and the basement pool room had tons of F14 and pilots memorabilia as its theme. That was a  pretty cool place to have a frosty.

Back to the question:

Tom Cruise & Val Kilmer.

By the way, the War Zone is a pretty good website for military articles, with as usual, an interesting cast of characters who frequent the comments section. It's worthwhile browsing.

With at least 2 of the original actors in, this is going to be awesome. I can't flipping wait. Cool that they have written in Gooses son as a trainee.

The aerial footage looks absolutely freaking awesome.  Who cares about the acting ;)

I call conspiracy.

The amercians must be needing more pilots. Maybe trying to inspire an entire generation to want to "fly" again.

No. I think that is wrong. The airplane companies are wanting to drive sales of airplanes, so they want people to become pilots. Cessna flips! Honda barrel roles!

If I ever grow up I would love have a Honda Jet ready on the tarmac.
