I believe the staunch supporters of CWC have been burned in the last few months so they aren't so keen to defend them anymore.

So all the people that have had *** service are now free to air their dirty laundry for all to see

It’s not like anything has actually changed day to day. It’s just that Oom is no longer the “owner” so the tribalism defense has fallen away.

Danny dont feel bad, they are equally bad to their male clients ....

Ended up buying a few thousand rands worth of stuff at King Cycles in Worcester, after going to CWC THREE times !!  There is ONE salesman left that has half a clue as to what they have, the rest of those kids really needs to go do a few funrides to figure out what a bike is, and why the clients are in-store ....

In my opinion, cwc and some other shops tend to judge customers before any assistance is offered. For example walk over to basic spares like patches etc and see how long someone takes to offer help. But walk over to more expensive stuff like a bicycle and boom, everyone walking past will want to help.

This is when I will ask something arb like, do you have a size 38 in a mtb baggies and let them run around looking. When they return you can also ask if that size is available in another brand.

The few shops i go to around cape town are usually good with service/assistance, just checking if you need help etc.

Even more so if you on the larger side of the normal skinny cycling build.

I'm built like a prop and have been ignored or simply brushed off at many stores.

I think it's more than that, they judge you as you walk in. I've walked into CWC and spent a while on my own with no salesmen coming to see what I wanted/needed I've managed to walk right around the store and sometimes a salesman will come and ask if I'm ok?? Other times they don't bother.

I've used to use them solely for online purchases but seeing as my two LBS's The one close to work and the other close to home smile when I walk in and have a chat and ask how my training is going (or lack of training) when my next event is etc....I think I'd rather spend my money there.

I think the most important fact here, and something everyone seems to ignore, is that you shifted to the small chainring .... why was your bike even fitted with one

It wasn’t a chain drop. Don’t you read replies?

It was a small chain ring spider bolt that wasn’t tightened. Chain can’t get in there.

I feel a CWC/Cyclelab "ask what you want" sale is coming soon

"Ask what you want, and if we have clearance items that match your needs you'll get" sale
