this was probably that 1 ride on the mountain... since then that owner of the junior wheel size'd bicycle has only seen the cycle lane

At least he actually swings his leg over his bike from time to time. No names mentioned.....

I found this pic taken of a Marathon / XC rider on the Epic .... why is he pushing, I used to ride up this section on my Single Speed  :whistling:

Arent there usually stacks of pics of Epic riders walking down the slightest hint of a rock garden?

People who ride endurance rides, as you call them, will not be able to sufficiently handle the technical nature of an enduro course.

In this case, enduro is more like a downhill race, with some ups thrown in for good measure. They are ridden in timed stages with each stage having a defined start and finish, measured by timing devices, usually worn on the wrist like a watch. At the start, they get scanned, and again at the end. In between, contestants go like bats out of hell to the bottom.

This is why they don't ride up a hill if they can help it. They are normally pretty poked after a stage.

Aaaahh...NOW I understand this enduro ..so its stages...ok then the uphill push makes sense...Thats why when I go on what I call my long rides I like to ride 90% trail...and technical stuff...

I take it you've never ridden an Enduro?

If you have enough time to get to the start of the stage, rather than blasting a moerse climb on a liaison and dropping in with blown-out legs, you save them for when it's needed - the timed stage.

I feel llike crap when I walk up , id rather spin up then rest A bit more at the top

Real enduro riders push their bikes, usually up mountains at events like roof of africa, Erzberg, Romainiacs.

Those are just people who compete in a sport that copied another sports name...

and many are happy to have just finished a few of the stages before pulling out of the event

[emoji106] Thanks Captain...Im learning...so "enduro" in this MTB competive sense not really endurance then??

Endurance is what I do

Enduro is doing 5 laps of chicken chicken knee and then hitting anniversary hill

Its Friday and here is my novice Friday question::....

Looking at a few pics on Pink Bike and these were from an enduro event in NZ it seems...and my question is WHY they pushing up this hill??....From the pic it certainly looks rideable .....Im sure there are many veteran MTBers here that would CRUZE up that hill.... p5pb16940036.jpg

Enter an Enduro this year (something like Klipberg) and find out for yourself ;) even the winners push - alot.

So Enduro is either totally biblical or just Roman Catholic, depending on how you finish?
