Not being someone that frequents FB(I have an account but can't remember the last time I went on) What is the PnP deal?

Spend a bucket load of money - get preferential treatment, only to be find out you are leaving after the seeded groups, but before the first timers.

Sign up for a smart shopper card and this entitled you to an earlier start

I think people were expecting a much earlier start ... lol

Was also a small discount on the entry fee

What time does the smart shoppers start? Will they be pushing trolleys?

Maybe I can get a basket for my bike, and sneak in there if the start is before mine...

After ppa but before general entries / open class

Hoping that they have completed that intersection at Fishoek-Sun Valley-Kommetjie!!!! Been digging up that road going for 2 years now!

Edit: Also don't see any changes to the on-ramp section at the start...  Bottleneck city!

Why, testosterone should be way high and everyone sprints up there.

Only way to sprint up there, is being first to get there and I mean first, as in the first guy, actually ahead of the entire race pack, in front of EVERYONE else!

Otherwise, it'll be up the emergency lane on the left dodging okes giving up on the first hill!!!!

As for the rest of us, it's a nice stop to say howzit to all the ous in your peleton and check each other's bikes out!!!

Last year in $ there was a crash at the bottom of that on-ramp because of the bottleneck and road was completely blocked. Back half of the bunch was stuck and race was over before it even began for a lot of guys.

I remember seeing Don in Lakeside and I pulled over to ask him why he was there...... I just got head shakes, a  mumble about less than 1km into the race and then the elusive 'how's your ride going?'

I'm not really sure what they can do there other than cone off the road so that the groups are more strung out before hitting it OR starting on the M3 and using the CTICC parking and entrance as a filter and entrance to the start chutes

I like that start on the M3 idea. All the start chutes can stay as is and there's just one final pause on the M3 before each group gets sent on it's way.

Could send the race over Dewaal, Darling, Tennat, Roeland, Dewaal, then the flyover to the M3, skipping the N2 altogether.

I would be very happy with that.

It adds a bit more 'oemf' to the route but it's early on.

I always just think that as society evolves, things like Oceans and CTCT do need to evolve as well.

I think taking 2 Oceans off Main road is brilliant. Main road services so many more areas than the M3.

Moving the Argust to a more practical start would be amazing. Well a good start, anyway......

I think this start from grandparade is ok  - there will never be a perfect scenario.

if the racing bunch can't hold their horses after 150m that says more about local racing scene than the course itself.
