This is very NB, my hot91.9 signal is not great in parts of the east rand. As I drive into my garage it's very fuzzy. Mix seems slightly better.

I'm not an FM expert so I have no clue how signals work but if I leave early in the morning, I can get 91.9 from about 1km away from my house in Pretoria all the way to about the R55 offramp on the N14.  I lose it, and then it returns at about Lansera until Key West.  But If I leave later in the morning, I only get it from Lanseria.  I wouldnt have thought that times of day have an effect but its like clockwork.  And ditto in the evening - If I train after work in Krugersdorp I leave at around 18:30 I get John Walland right up until the Pretoria N14/Ben Schoeman split.  But leave at 16:00 from Krugersdorp and I lose it at Diepsloot again.

And I swear it also changes in cold weather vs hot weather - again it makes no sense, but in Winter I definitely pick up Mix and 91.9 better than in summer  <_<

Andymann, please give us your opinion after your test period.

Been reading up on the H2, and seen very little negative opinions about it.

Might just go for a test drive in one, my 2005 Polo is now starting to show it's age.

Have a look at the Mitsubishi ASX.

Well priced mid-sized SUV that drives well and has every electronic convenience you can ask for.

Straight 2L petrol engine, no potentially expensive turbos to deal with.

You're not going to fit 2 bikes inside like a Jazz but only the Caddy is going to offer that option.

(my next car might be a Caddy if I can convince my staffie she'd still look cool in it..)

Being such sensitive dogs you would need to get that approval sorted :)

Off topic but that does actually make sense. Frequency modulation and the frequency band used is affected by weather with the most notable being sun. When the sun is out and everything is warm then its easier for the signal to travel.

Well I spoke to the DP of Haval in Northcliff and told him I won't make any decision until I've done an extended test - I told him I commute daily to Krugersdorp from Pretoria and have done so for 8 years so I know exactly how both the Jazz and my Polo behaved in traffic, where i had to gear down, where the Radio loses Hot91.9 and Mix , how they pulled up Krugersdorp hill etc etc,  so if he was serious about his cars I want one to use for the day's commute.

Fully expected him to say sorry we don't do that type of thing.

Picking up a demo tomorrow night after work - these guys are really backing their product......

If you show good intent to buy most places will do this.

But you get so many chancers out there.

Most dealerships in Gauteng will know a dude that goes by the name of Mr T, I think he has tried his luck at every brand and every dealership.

He phones in and ask about a car, he will even visit with his son or daughter. The car is never for him but for one of the kids. Promises to pay cash. Calla his insurance whilst at the dealership.

After much back and forth negotiations he then wants to use the car for a week.

Never buys anything though.

Even his insurance guy is sick of his nonsense.

Last time he was here he was in a demo Haval (which ever the big one is).

but the opposite is being experienced. when its cooler the signal seems to be picked up better.

People who can't afford all that data, like me. 1gb p/m on my phone and 10gb wifi at home p/m shared with my wife and that's it for me. I pay for 3 contracts, my phone, my wife's phone and the 10gb data sim and I seldom spend more than R600 p/m on all 3 combined.

KIA loaned me a grand sedona for 3 days to test. BUT I do happen to know one of the big bosses at kia. He told the DP of edenvale branch to call me and to organise it.

Ja - I have no idea - it might well be my imagination but for those of you who commute like I do and might also use radio markers to know if you are on time or not -  It definitly seems like I hear the 6:30 sport report on 91.9 at the N14/Snake road onramp better in winter than in Summer - and better in rainy weather than not.

Yeah I read it again and also noticed that, it doesnt make sense because of the way the frequencies refract. I learnt a lot about all of that in my *much* younger years as a scout using ham radio.

Sheesh!!! I go through 6GB on my phone and more than 275GB at home... not to mention what's used at the office...
